Ya, we are following GFCF for the last 4 months now. We have starting giving him the raw coconut water everyday, since past 2 weeks. Also we have started the probiotics for him at the same time.Since then we are seeing this problem more frequently.RegardsAmitSent from BlackBerry® on AirtelSender: mb12valtrex Date: Wed, 5 Dec 2012 13:28:19 +0000To: mb12valtrex <mb12valtrex >ReplyTo: mb12valtrex Subject: RE: Need help - excessive gas and stomach pain Are you on GFCF diet did this reaction just start suddenly BolaTo: mb12valtrex From: shayo112009@...Date: Wed, 5 Dec 2012 13:12:52 +0000Subject: RE: Need help - excessive gas and stomach pain Are you using digestives enzymes Bola > To: mb12valtrex > Date: Wed, 5 Dec 2012 12:47:59 +0000> Subject: Need help - excessive gas and stomach pain> > Hi> > We are noticing the following 2 major symptoms with our son :> > 1. Hi Amit,My daughter had excessive stomach gas and pain for a while too. It was caused by some supplements, and mostly by a higher dose of Valtrex. When she was taking 500 gr of Valtrex 3 times a day she had A LOT of stomach pain! She cried a lot! Her DAN doctor said it could be that the anti-yeast was not strong enough, so he changed it to Fluconazole, and also told me to give her half the dosis, 250 gr of Valtrex (instead of 500 gr) 3 times a day. Also, before that, some of her supplements were already causing some gas pain (not as much as Valtrex, but still it bothered her): Glycine, Biotin 8, Citramin II, COQ10 and Probiotics. After we removed those, she was back to normal, with no pain at all.Note that we removed these supplements after she has taken them for almost two years. She did not have any significant positive changes with the biomedical treatment in general (not even with the B12 shots that she took for 1 year), so we removed those a couple of months ago, and now we will remove almost all of them if Valtrex shows no results. She's been on Valtrex for 2 months now and I don't see any changes really. Will try one more month just in case...Good luck!Xexa To: mb12valtrex From: dan-ruth-setlak@...Date: Wed, 5 Dec 2012 09:33:44 -0500Subject: Re: Need help - excessive gas and stomach pain

This could also be a spastic colon too if something he is eating is not agreeing with him. It would make sense that charcoal would help that. Apple Pectin powder may do the same.. you may want to start a food dairy and try to find common foods or additives that are causing the pain, then start eliminiating one by one till you find the culprit. Digestive enzymes with often kep as well if you give the right one with the type of predominant food in that meal.

Hope this helps,

Amit,Probiotics Complete gave my daughter some gas and pain. That might be it. Check with your doctor. Sometimes changing the type or amount of probiotics is the solution. You should check with your doctor ASAP. It makes no sense to have your son in so much pain, and it is probaly easy to solve.Good luck! To: mb12valtrex From: amitg77@...Date: Wed, 5 Dec 2012 14:27:48 +0000Subject: Re: Need help - excessive gas and stomach pain

Which probiotics are u using Amit? I have used culturelle for a long time with

my kid as it is the most recommended and most studied one but I still saw

undigested food in his stool. He used to get horrible stomach pains on it too

and some people suggested it was from inulin. Now I am using custom probiotics

d-lactate free and he has formed stools. He still gets bloated if I give him

more than 100 billion cells.

Have u done a urine OAT test yet? He may have bacterial mainly anaerobic

overgrowth including but not limited to clostridia. What workup have you done so

far? Coconut water may have a laxative action for sensitive individuals. Maybe

stop the coconut water for now. Are you working with a dan? He needs baseline

workup including Liver function test. If possible, provide more detail and we

will try our best to give some ideas.

Good luck

Plus good digestive enzyme, probiotic and as for parasite anyone can google dr Klighardt protocol for parasites and most of these one can but without a prescription!!! Doing a round or two would be best!!!Anyone who can go and see Dr Yu for parasite problem should do as he used EVA machine to diagnose.... Sent from my iPhone

I would Take off from his diet corn and soy too. Also do food alergy test. This

can also be gastrites, acid reflux.

Observe well. You will find out what it is.

Very important to find a good doctor.

My son improoved a lot from loose stools and food in the stools with antifungal

therapy and ( GFCFS(soy)FC(corn)FS (sugar)F, very litle carbs. Its still An

issue though.

I disagree with Cristina in one thing:If you are doing a GF diet, soy should always be removed as well, since it is similar and has the same effect as Gluten.BUT removing CORN makes the diet MUCH more restricted, and since AMIT is just starting, I would not do that right away.Since the gas pain started after he started taking the probiotics and the coconut water, it could be either one.I would first remove the probiotics for a week and see what happens. If it's the same, remove than the coconut water. Would do a GFCF SoyF SugarF diet, but leave corn and potatos for now. You can't go that extreme on the diet right away. It's too much for the kid and for the parents... in my opinion.________________________________________________________________________________________________To: mb12valtrex From: cristina_doto@...Date: Thu, 6 Dec 2012 10:42:59 -0200Subject: Re: Need help - excessive gas and stomach pain

it sounds like lots of inflammation going on. I agree with alexis the coconut water or probiotics can be a culprit. when i first started my journey with my son I got a delayed food allergy panel done by lab corp. this helped me pin point food that was harming him but there were other things that didnt show up on the test that made my son worse. it was by trial and error that i found..coconut water was horrible for my son and i had to try a couple diffrent probiotics till i found the one that worked for my son.

the other thing was cutting out all the grain for a couple months till his digestive system calmed down. grain is the hardest thing to digest.

some people dont need to cut out all grains but for my son i had to...it was how i healed his gut....also lot of cooked veggie soups...easy to digest stuff....and then look into enzymes to help the body digest better.....

then you can try baking soda (aluminum free)benedryl combo at night before bed. on empty stomach....soothes the inflammation of the gut...so poor kid can get some rest

Which probiotics are u using Amit? I have used culturelle for a long time with my kid as it is the most recommended and most studied one but I still saw undigested food in his stool. He used to get horrible stomach pains on it too and some people suggested it was from inulin. Now I am using custom probiotics d-lactate free and he has formed stools. He still gets bloated if I give him more than 100 billion cells. Have u done a urine OAT test yet? He may have bacterial mainly anaerobic overgrowth including but not limited to clostridia. What workup have you done so far? Coconut water may have a laxative action for sensitive individuals. Maybe stop the coconut water for now. Are you working with a dan? He needs baseline workup including Liver function test. If possible, provide more detail and we will try our best to give some ideas.Good luckis>> Ya, we are following GFCF for the last 4 months now. > > We have starting giving him the raw coconut water everyday, since past 2 weeks. Poor thing, that sounds awful. I have irritable bowel and get extreme pain and cramping from many foods (onion, garlic, strawberries, dairy, some times pop corn) I would keep a food journal. It sounds like the effect is pretty quick, so you know it is probably something he just injested. (check pro biotic and coconut water first)

His body is telling you it cannot handle something it is getting. You need to play detective and in an organized manner eliminate one thing at a time and keep notes. (it can be extremely confusing ... because sometimes it is a combo ... or sometimes the reaction can be different.) Even though things may seem like a good idea for healing, if our bodies cannot handle them they can do more damage than good. One person's medicine is another's poison... this couldn't be more true for kids on the spectrum who can be sensitive to so many things.

I would keep an eye on grains (all whole grains (including gluten free) are difficult to digest and can cause inflammation), also garlic/onion, and I would eliminate what you have added in (probiotics and coconut water).

For diet what seems to work for me is to keep it simple. If I have cereal I try to stick to a fairly processed rice or corn cereal (rice krispys, corn flakes). I eat simple meats/ fruits/ veg./ white rice/ potato (i use soy free earthbalance margarin, and we don't drink a milk substitute often but I do ok with coconut milk, but if coconut is a problem you may want to try rice or soy. And for bread (I limit the amount and eat a very processed white bread)... it works better for my system than a gluten free bread. I also do this for my son who has autism (we were gfcf for a couple years, and even tried specific carbohydrate for a while, when we added just white bread in and took out some of the gluten free grains he seemed to do better). Also a good bone broth chicken soup is very healing for the gut.

I think of the advice you get when a kid has a stomach flu. (dont give them anything that makes it worse... keep it simple... b.r.a.t. diet (banana, rice, apple sauce, toast).

Also for my irritable bowel, if I "cheat" on my diet and eat something I know will upset my stomach it makes it much better if I take an aloe supplement . Aloe juice may be worth trying in the future. But first I would simplify and try to find the culprit.

Good luck.

Hi ,Thank you for this perspective. I am curious what do you send in for your child's lunch and lunch on the run? My kids get a lot of sunbutter sandwiches on the gfcf bread bx I can't think of anything else they will eat that I can put in their lunch boxes. Unfortunately, I haven't had much luck on getting them to eat soups either.Sent from my iPhone
