Guest guest
HI Alana...I am almost 21 weeks pregnant with Twins. B/? we think the other is a girl. I had Lap Rny on 11/18/03 Almost a year...WOOHOO and lost a total of 150 pounds. I lost about 17-19 pounds originally with the pregnancy and as of my Sept apt i had only gained 2 back. I go back tuesday and I am pretty sure that those numbers will be MUCH higher...LOL Get used to the cramps, the non sleep etc....I also find it is sooo much different with twins than singleton. Everything I experienced at 30+ weeks with my daughter I am experiencing now with the twins. I also am worried about the weight gain because i find myself eating more than before but still NO WHERE near pre surgery....But i am worried about the babies so i eat...LOL Good Luck Keep In Touch, Crystal Lap RNY 11/18/03 365/222/goal 165-175 after twins Edd 3/29/05 dd 12/21/00 (http://lilypie.com/)
Guest guest
My name is Alana and I'v been on this group for about 5mths now. I am 13 weeks pregnant with twins ( Boy and Girl). I had a Rny 05/28/2003 and have lost 110lbs. Since being pregnant ive lost an additional 9lbs. and gain 6 of that back. Having twins sure is so much different than a singleton. I'm concerned about my future overall weight gain. I'm scared that I'll gain most of my weight back, yet I'm very concerned about the birth weight of the babies. I also have some cramping somethimes which my high risk ob says will probobly last the whole pregnancy. I also have back pain and the inability to sleep already. Any advice, feedback, or commets would be greatly appreciated. Alana
Guest guest
Hi Alana, Congratulations on being so incredibly blessed with twins. We were blessed with our own girl/boy twins on July 26. The babies were full- term and born incredibly healthy. We all had a two night hospital stay (I was readmitted 3 days after they were born, but that is anoter story) and other than Aubree (dd) experiencing a little reflux, both babies have flourished. I lost 12 lbs my first trimester, but I was so sick that not much stayed down. I gained back my 12 lbs and only 6 extra lbs by the end of my pregnancy, which is quite a small weight gain for a woman carrying twins. I literally walked out of the hospital after delivery weighing less than I did when we found out we were expecting. I believe the babies really took a lot out of me, since I was eating more frequently and more carbs than I had prior to their conception. Now I am working on controlling the carb monkey that crawled way up high on my back when I was allowed to eat all the folic acid rich carbs I wanted. Make sure you take all of your vitamins religiously and eat whole wheat breads and crackers if you are able to consume starchy carbs. Since the extra blood volume to carry twins is quite large, make sure you drink AT LEAST 64 oz of water each day. Get in much more than that if you can to avoid dehydration. I had a lot more round ligament pain with the twins than I did with my son, probably due to the extra room needed for two. I definitely felt all the pregnancy stages much sooner than I did while pregnant with one. By the time Aubree and Ethan were born my hips were so dislocated that I could not walk up stairs. I suggest that if you're able to, you get some hip and back strengthening exercises in. I wore a belly belt from month 3 on and I truly belive that it helped my back quite a bit. It didn't fit after month 7, but in the middle of summer, I wasn't inclined to wear an elastic wrap around my waste anyway. Good luck, and if you need any suggestions on what is helpful to parents of multiples AFTER birth, give me a holler. We ended up with a lot of things that we really didn't need and have found some incredible things I wish we had known about before the babies were born. Guest guest
congrats on B/G Twins ALana! what a blessing. most likely the " cramping " is ligaments and muscles stretching to grow for baby. always ask the Dr if you have concerns, but you're right, they'll continue til birth, lol...good luck... aka mom2ben99 (jennilee75@...)
