The addition of heavy metals to our systems is one thing we are all considering

in the health of our children in this group.

Mercury is increasing in fish and the environment in general around the world.

We have been lead to believe that the problem is from industry. I would like to

suggest that coal and oil are one of the root causes, not talked about.

Although the burning of fossil fuels has focused our attention on the increase

of CO2 in the atmosphere. I think the increase of heavy metals in our

environment is as bad or worse than global warming.

Coal on average has about 3.5 ppm Hg. The Hg combines with organics at temp to

form organo-mercury compounds. Now consider all the coal we burn and where the

fumes land.

Oil also on average has a similar loading of Hg. We burn about the same amount

of oil as coal. Where are these organo-mercury compounds landing.
