Guest guest
, For kids who have mito, the mito cocktail can be a game changer. Regression and fatigue with illness is a feature of mito, for sure. This recent MitoAction telecall on illness management may be very hepful to you. Managing mito kids when sick is critical, to prevent regressions. There is a lot of practical advice here... http://www.mitoaction.org/autism/sick-protocol-and-illness-management-suggestions-kids-mito-autism The Solace website wants the name of the MD supervising dose, labs, etc. Although DAN's can do some initial screening labs, a mito dx needs to come from a specialist. If you have done some initial labs, you could do a "second opinion consult" with Dr. Fran Kendall via phone. She could review the labs and give you her thoughts. She is lovely, compassionate, knowledgeable and is generous with her time. Here is information about her "virtual visits":http://virtualmdpractice.com/Services.html And here are some of Dr. Kendall's autism-mito resources:http://virtualmdpractice.com/MitoandAutism.html I frequenty tell parents to print out this paper. Circle all the symptoms that apply to your child. If three of more systems are affected, an evlauation for mito-autism is appropriate:http://virtualmdpractice.com/documents/GeneticTestingforASD.pdf This a great new article written by Dr. Doug Wallace. He is the "grandfather" of mitochondrial medicine/science. C. Wallace is director of the Center for Mitochondrial and Epigenomic Medicine at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. He runs the new mitochondrial research lab there. He used to be in CA. He has an adult ASD son... and I just think he's one of the most brilliant thinkers of our time. http://sfari.org/news-and-opinion/viewpoint/2013/exploring-enigmatic-links-between-mitochondria-and-autism Email any questions, happy to help, if I can.Alyssa A link to the autism-mito resoruces at MitoAction:http://www.mitoaction.org/about-autism-and-mito Resources for information abut autism-mitohttp://www.mitoaction.org/autism-categories/resources To: "mb12valtrex " <mb12valtrex > Sent: Tuesday, January 15, 2013 12:57 PM Subject: Re: Creatine Alyssa, Just enter the M.D. or an actual physical paper order? I'm going to have a conversation with our pediatrician about the possibility of mitochondrial dysfunction. I read your article. Jack regressed at 3 years, 9 months after the second of two viral infections in 8 months. He is immunocompromised, he runs hot, gets so tired. I know we've had most if not all of the lab tests done, I just need to pull them and review them. They were ordered, but I think our DAN wasn't very clear on what they meant. Huge processing gains on BioRay's Liver Life, Cytoflora, and NDF Plus. Want to introduce the Cytotines, and possibly Lutamax, but really intrigued by the Mito cocktail.
