Hi Marina:

It’s

not my B12 that I was concerned about although when it went to 359 last year

and I had nerve damage in one foot and memory loss and the doctor wasn’t

going to warn me, until it got below 198. That’s hard to believe.

I made a

typing error= My Folic Acid should have read 1113 and that is about twice the

limit. I was concerned with that level.

Do you know

anything about that test?

Thanks,

Bonnie

Your b12 is

fine. I started having health problems when my b12 went down to 250. After

eating red meat for 2 month went back to 500-no problems anymore. Some people

tolerate even lower b12. If you don't have health problems why worry about test

results?

Hello:

I hope someone will give me a clue as to this blood test report and what it

means if anything.

" A high level of Folic Acid can mask a B12 deficiency " , first of all

I don't know exactly what that means.

My results are:-

My B12 = 789 (198-615)

Folic Acid = 113 (>OR=634) That is the range.

Would someone please give me an opinion?

Thanks,

Bonnie

Marina:

Thanks for

this reply. I am taking a SMALL AMOUNT OF FOLATE and I thought it might rise,

but to be DOUBEL THE LIMIT seems a bit much to me.

So that is

what is causing my high level.

I didn’t

think 800 MCG. was high when I have seen many people online and IN BOOKS, that

take 2,000 MG. to 5,000 MG. and that is about 2000 TIMES what I am taking.

Do you see

were taking NOT 1 MG. but 5,000 MG.

Bonnie, When I was pregnant I took 400mcg, several months after I stopped taking it I took blood test, The values were elevated. Not doubled, but I stopped taking folic acid months prior to the test. Doctor said folate level built up and it will take months to go down. She was right. I retested several months afterwards and level was normal. I don't know if you have any health problems, so I don't know what the reason of elevation. If your folate level so high I would stop taking supplements. From:
