Yep, this is true.

Even though it is important we all like each other, it is very much

a 'professional' relationship, and that's made very clear at the

start both by the nanny and the agencies. It's like having your

children at a nursery, only that they use your house as the nursery

(and you have to tidy up when you come back from work, haha).

My nanny does cook for the children, does pop to the shops if it's

something we have run out of, and will wash their clothes sometimes -

and she will also empty the dishwasher in the morning so she can use

it.

But anything else is strictly out of bounds - if we have left a pan

to soak overnight for example, she will put it to the side so she can

use the sink, rather than wash it up... (is that extreme I wonder).

She would certainly walk out in seconds if I asked her to hoover, but

that I can understand (a bit like I would feel in my office I

suppose - I don't mind making a collague a coffee, but don't expect

to have to clean the floor).

Yet it does feel strange, because after all the nanny DOES become

part of the family, and then it is a bit strange that she doesn't

chip in the way everyone else has to... it seems mother's help and

perhaps an au pair are more flexible that way (or if not more

flexible, they will have it as part of their job description).

I got the German Measles booster at age 15. I became very ill, and

never recovered all the way or rather have depended upon diets and

treatments to keep me functioning well since then. I have read research

that getting the MMR more than once increases the odds of getting

chronic symptoms. There is also a study that says that if a child gets

the MMR and never gets the Tetanus/diptheria vaccine, they do better

than if they never get the MMR. It's a study that was done in Africa.

But frankly, I trust no vaccine at all any more, except for rabies. We

still need to use rabies vaccines when appropriate.

Heidi N

My biggest fear is that he'll regress if he get's this MMR vaccine now

at 5yrs old??? I'm so confused, and don't know what to do. Any advise

on what I should or who I can call?

This is very disturbing. My son has a medical waiver, and he is 5 now. He had

a reaction at 2 yrs old to the mmr and broke out in a measels rash..that was the

last shot he received and ever will. I can't imagine how I would react if he

came home from school one day and I found out he received a shot. OR my

daughter who we have been doing the basic dtap and polio. She still at 3

doesn't have all the those done yet. How dare someone tell us what we should

have done and take it upon themselves to do anything to our children.

It makes me want to consider home schooling!
