Guest guest Posted October 22, 2004 Report Share Posted October 22, 2004 , I'm not in the medical field...but I do have a lot of personal experience with B12 and Iron defiencies (as well as other blood deficiencies). Again, I'm not a doctor/nurse but I CAN tell you that while your hemoglobin should be higher, an 8 is not incredibly low. Last week when I was checked (actually a week AFTER my last Iron IV trmt) my hemoglobin was still at 4.9...the OB isn't freaking out, just another treatment this and next week too. We'll test again and continue until the day before Thanksgiving when I have the csection. I am anal-retentive when it comes to my many blood disorders....this baby is doing great and my iron hasn't effected his growth or health. Just stay on top of things. As for the supplements - I have never responded/absorbed them. Make sure your dr tests you in a few weeks and doesn't just 'assume' that they're doing the job.
