I just think, and I am certainly part of this, that we get so caught up in the

posts that read woman being so happy about gaining 'only' 2 lbs after 6 months.

**The exception is the woman who is recently post-op****

It is not normal or healthy for woman not to gain weight, post op or not after

the initial 12-18 months have past.

The health of the unborn baby is what is important and the long term risks of

having a baby that is born to a woman who gains such a small amount of weight is

unknown. It could follow your child, not only at birth, but brain development

through the school years, attentions disorders and millions of other things.

I am so guilty of it also - getting all wrapped up in wondering what is wrong

with me for gaining 9lbs in 5 month................NOTHING. And that is what we

need to keep reminding ourselves. I just did it last night. I went to the

doctor and was like OH MY GOD - 9lbs. and then I really had to put things in

perspective, that is still below the normal range, but within a healthy range

for being over 2 years post op.

Your body will tell you what is right and some number is not the justification

for that. I cannot and will not rejoice in something that might not be healthy

for my unborn child.

**And again the exception is the woman who just had surgery and is still losing

rapidly.*********

This is just my opinion but I just think to compare ourselves to someone who is

happy to gain 3 lbs during a 9 month pregnancy is like comparing yourself to

someone who is not stable.

Even if you still obese - you need to gain. Not as much as the underweight or

normal weight, but need to gain.

I am happy that my baby is happy, healthy and growing at a normal rate....even

if I am too!!!!!!!!

I am 3 1/2 years post op, and have gained 18 lbs so far and am 29 wks

preggers. I too am very concerned about my weight gain, but the

women in this group who have already delivered say that our appitites

and the weight go back to normal quite soon after delivery. I am

holding on to that ray of hope! I have to admit that prior to being

pregnant, I rarely, if ever, felt hunger pains. Now, I get so

ravenous I just reach for anything. The good news for me is that I

am still very sensitive to sugar, so I dump easily. That keeps me

from going off the deep end, but I weigh myself every morning and am

concerned about the gain.

You are not alone.

I agree mostly with this post. Especially the part that says ... Your body will

tell you what is right...

I am just over 4 months post op and am pregnant.

Your body will tell you and do what is right with my first child, and I was

overweight started at 311 when I got pregnant, I only gained 7 pounds the whole

pregnancy. I did what I was supposed to do and all my body needed to gain to

support a wonderfully healthy baby girl is the 7 pound weight gain. My baby was

born 7 pounds 13 ounces and 21 ½ inches long. On the other hand my sister who

started out at about 160 pounds gained 60 pounds with her pregnancy and she did

what she was supposed to do as well. The weight also came off within I believe

6 months time. Each of our bodies are so individual that we need to only do

what we are suppose to do by eating right, taking vitamins, etc. and everything

will work it self out.

I know how hard it is to see the scale go up during our pregnancy and what a

psychologically trying time it is for each of us. I lost another 2 pounds as of

this morning and I am very happy about it. I am not to worried because as we

have all been told our babies will get what they need first from us even before

we do, so let us just keep doing what we each need to do.

Just to help put concerns at ease about weight gain. When you have your little

bundle of joy he/she weighs X amount of weight. You will loss that weight plus

all the fluid weight that will come off right away. I weighed 296 the day after

I had my daughter. So I lost a total of 22 pounds in the delivery process.

I do hope this makes sense. Have a great day everyone and hope this helps.

i wouldn't be concerned, queenie. you are normal. anything after 2 years post

op hardly looses weight and is considered normal. you're no longer affected by

the gastric bypass surgery then...at least thats what my drs have said. hope

this helps...

Hi,

I am 4 years post op and pregnant for the first time. I just came

from my doctors visit and troubled about the weight gain of 20 Lbs.

I know the average weight gain is about 27 Lbs but I have 3 more

months to go and I know I'm going to gain more than 27 Lbs. I am

just worried that I will not be able to loose it and keep on gaining

after the baby is here. I know I have the tool but would like to

hear from people with similar experiences and how they dealt with

the problem.

Thanks

Hi,

Only 11 weeks pregnant and gaining weight like there is no tomorrow.

Its scary and i feel your pain. Im up like 10-12 lbs as I cant stop

eating. Some gain 40 lbs and then say it comes off easily. I am

hopeful that will be the case for me. Hang in there girl!!!!
