hi - when my son came off valtrex I continued him on OLE (olive leaf extract) and virastop to keep virus at bay. I do think speech is a good clinical marker for whats going on inside him. When speech comes and goes on a daily basis I would also look at killing yeast (we use p73 oil of oregano), bacteria (goldenseal), and parasites (hummaworm).Diet or environmental exposures can also be cause for a bad day with my boy. We steer clear of pizza parties or places that smell odd (different from outdoors). We also chelate metals with dmsa and ala....most days are pretty good now but occasionally I still screw it up. I hope your son gets better soon, happy holidays>> Hello group, >

My 5-year-old son has been on a high dose of Valtrex for year and a half (3x500mg). It has been a while since we haven't seen any more gains and we want to wean him off the medication. We have been gradually reducing the dose over more than a month looking for some signs of regression but I am afraid we might miss some signs because we don't know actually what to look for. Is it behaviour, speech, what? He is non-verbal but he has some words and phrases. Could someone of you give me a complete list of examples of regression that one could expect trying to stop the antiviral? > One day he looks like his speech has regressed and the other day completely the opposite and I don't know if to continue with the lower dose, lower it even more or add back the higher one. There is one thing that worries me for sure - he calls me "mummy" but stoped saying "mummy, mummy" when crying for me, while with someone else. I mean he cries and everybody knows that he

cries for me, running around the house, looking in every room for me but he doesn't say the word, as he used to. Is that a regression and could it be because of the lower dose of Valtrex? > > I would appreciate any comments, > Dani>
