Guest guest
I am 4 months out of surgery and 3 months pregnant. I still see a nutritionist monthly and she helps me monitor my eating for the surgery as well as for the baby. She suggested I take the protein shake at least once a day. Guest guest
my dr suggested protien shakes as well...the down side to them is that you are drinking your calories and not " filling up " but other then that, i had never heard not to take them during pregnancy...always consult the Dr...the OB should know if it's safe for the baby...the surgeon would know if it's good for you...consult them both and you'll get the right answer ...good luck! aka mom2ben99 (jennilee75@...) I have stopped by the health food store once or twice and had one. Sometimes I feel a little sluggish and if I have a protein high meal then I feel alot better. I too am a first time patient for my OB. We have been learning together during this. So far she has said that I am extremely normal for a pregnant woman. My labs have all been perfect and my BP normal. The only thing that both my surgeon and OB suggested is that I eat as often as I feel is necessary. If it is every 2 hours so be it. If it is more or less often so be that too. They wanted to make sure that I was getting a good variety of foods as well. So those of us that were carb less before, it is ok for us to have some or even alot now. I personally am having the worst surgar cravings ever. I have to have some everyday. I am afraid that it will be a problem after delivery, but the doctor and people from the site here have suggested that my cravings and eating habits will return to normal after baby gets here. If it doesnt I will have to kick myself in the behind and force the habit to stop. Oh! and I have only gained 16 pounds and I am 32 weeks preggo. Hope this helps. ~Hugs~ Shalonda
