Guest guest
Hi! Well, she made it! Caris Marie Cunningham was born at 3:01pm on Wednesday October 6th and weighed 8 pounds, 1 ounce and was 19.5 " long! She was very healthy! (She was induced at 39 weeks!) I arrived at the hospital for my induction at 6am. They started the pitocin at around 7:30 in the morning. The contractions started getting rough at around 9am. I got my epidural at around 10-10:30. The anesthisologist had to do it TWICE because the first time she went too far and drew out some spinal fluid. She explained that worse case scenario, I would have massive headaches, and they would have to go back into my back and do a blood patch to patch up the leaking hole. So far, that hasn't had to happen yet, but I have had a pretty bad headache all day! Anyway, so at around noon, I was still only at 4cm. I was really uncomfortable with my head hurting, so I kicked everyone out of the room and tried to take a nap. That did it! At 1pm, I was dialated to 9cm! At 2pm I was complete. The nurse asked me to do a practice push just to see what would happen, and sure enough, Caris almost came out. So, the nurse hurried up and got the room ready, and we had to wait for the Dr. to get there. By the time he got there, she was almost out, and he had to practically hold her in while they finished getting his robe on. She pretty much just came out by herself! I didn't have any tearing or stitiches either! Yeah! So, really the only complication was the spinal fluid and I have had a headache all day. At about 5pm, when everyone left to take a break, I finally got a chance to try and nurse her. She had already been putting her fingers in her mouth since being born. So, when I started nursing her, she latched on right away, just like she knew exactly what she was supposed to do! She's so precious! All I want to do is hold her and look at her. I finally got moved into a recovery room and got everyone gone at about 9:00! I went from about 6pm until 9 without holding her. Now it's my turn! I nursed her, and she fell asleep. So, now I'm going to try to go get some rest!!! Mommy to Duel 5/28/97, Caitlin 1/13/99, and Caris Marie 10/06/04 12/11/01 Open RNY

With my first, I was in labor for fourteen hours, I had to push for two hours, and finally had him with the help of forceps. With my second, I was in labor for about six hours, and pushed two times. With Caris, labor went a little bit longer, about eight hours, but she came out much easier. So, for me, the second and third were much easier than the first! If it wasn't for that blotched epidural and spinal fluid, it would have been a perfect delivery. Nevertheless, I'm still thrilled about my delivery yesterday yand can't believe this precious baby belongs to me! It's amazing, even after having two! I wish you the best of luck!
