Chasta,

I used to use the Nuva Ring - and spermicide for

backup. It worked just fine.

The pill is malabsorbed and you can get pregnant if

you only use it because the way the pill breaks down

and the medication is absorbed in your body now, post

WLS.

If you take the pill, use back-up, i.e., condoms,

spermicide, diaphrapm, etc. unless you want to become

pregnant. There is a real high incidence of women

getting pregnant soon after WLS if they do not protect

themselves.

All the best,

Herlean

Speaking of birth control - I was thinking of getting Mirena (like

the IUD) inserted after I have the baby. Is anyone on that?

Chasta,

I think it really depends on the woman. Several people have said that the

birth control pills aren't as effective after surgery, but I had no problems and

was able to wait two years after my surgery to conceive. (I was pregnant

within two months of going off the pill.)

Best Wishes!
