Guest guest
I am so sorry to hear that you have no relief from that awful pain. Have you spolen to your bypass doc lately? My reason for asking is that I had 2 operations one month apart last year for internal hernia. I was in incredible pain. My OB did some research when I first started seeing her and she was cautious she said because studies show that there has been an increased incidence of these during pregnancy after gastric bypass. Worth checking into, it can be dangerous if left untreated. Lots of luck, Gerri 36 weeks Boston, Massachusetts > Hi all > > I have to vent. Guest guest
Gerri I do have a hernia near my incision (I had a hand assist with a lap). My surgeon doesn't even return my calls anymore - is it because I'm 2 years out and I'm no longer on his list of patients? Anyway.... I feel like no one cares.. Guest guest
Aaliyah, That is awful, what you say about your GB doc, what a jerk. The type of hernia I am talking about is a bit more serious than one you find at incisional sites. It is a matter of your new resected bowel getting basically tied in a knot amongst itself, sometimes it corrects itsel which makes it very hard to diagnose, I believe the only way they can is with a catscan and even then if the " knot " has slipped out then it can be tricky. Maybe you should think about finding yourself a better doc toturn to for your gastric bypass issues. I was told it could be dangerous if left untreated. You are a week ahead of me so, even though it may not seem that way, before you know it you will be holding your baby in your arms! Guest guest
Hi Aali! Forgive me for not knowing any details about your pain. I have been so busy the last couple of week with school work that I have not read the board at all.......However, the only kind of pain I ever had that was that bad was my gallbladder. It was horrible! I had several attacks while pregnant back in 2001. I had to take pain pills for it. Anyway, do you still have your gallbladder? Just a thought......and one that you've probably already thought of.......what is causing the pain....has the OB said? NOTHING should cause you to be in that kind of pain. I have been pregnant 6 times and I've never had pain like that....bless your heart! Is there anything that could be a result from your gastric bypass causing the pain....when was your gastric bypass? Guest guest
Hi Terri Well, I had my gallbladder out when I had my RNY in 8/02 so I know that's not it. The only thing the GI doc, my surgeon, and the OB can come with is that I have lots of internal scarring from the bypass and it's being stretched by my growing belly. Of course scar tissue isn't elastic and so that's what causing the pain. But my OB has told me (too many times to count) that she knows this uncomfortable but it's just normal 9th month pain. Yeah whatever. See if I give my business again!! Grrrr!!! Also, I have a hernia near the 3 inch incision the surgeon made when he did a hand assist during my RNY. Someitmes the pain is there with it but mostly it's more off to the right of it near on of the lap scars. I just got a refill on vicodan and I'm trying really hard not to take it unless the pain is unbearable. I'm really disappointed that I opted for the C-section but this pain is just awful and I want to be rid of it! I'm hoping I go into labor before my c-section next week (don't know the day of it yet). The way my OB is talking, I won't be having this baby anytime soon because of the position - too high up yet. Also, who's to say I would have a successful VBAC since my first birth was very difficult and I didn't progress at all. Anyway, I'm trying to see the bright side of it all - the baby will be here that much sooner! Say a little prayer for me will ya? Aali > > Hi all > > > > I have to vent.
