Guest guest
My ds is 7, has asd, and has a chronic history with yeast and bacteria overgrowth. For several years he was getting a high dose of vsl3, which seemed to keep things at bay. Unfortunately, the cost became too much so we took my ds to see a gastroenterologist who just put him on miralax to keep him regulare. The miralax just caused diarrhea, so we've been playing with the dosage to try and find a dose that works for him. Last week he began peeing his pants at school. I thought it was behavioral, since he has been known to wet himself when he's not getting his way. He didn't have any accidents at home last weekend, but then monday at school had 6 or 7. Last Monday night he began complaining of a boo boo in the area of his groin, but really wasn't being specific. He's not verbal enough to say anything but boo boo. I took him to the pedi on Tuesday who ran a culture and sent him for a U/S of his kidneys. The dip stick showed a little blood at the office, but the culture that came back from the lab shows no blood and no infection. He continues to only pee little squirts at a time, and is constantly wetting himself just a little bit at a time. He's going constantly. Friday the pedi sent him for another u/s of his appendix and testicles to make sure all was well there, and that was also normal. Last night he became very urgent to go pee and was pulling my hand toward him. I noticed a small brown color coming from him, so I took a tissue and dabbed him. What looked like a small black thread, with a knot in it came out. I thought it was a string from his underwear. I'm pretty sure it came out of him, but I can't say for sure. Today he's still peeing very frequently only a tiny bit at a time. He's eating and drinking fine, has no fever, and is playing as usual. I can tell he's very sensitive on his tip, but then again he's been poked and prodded all week and could just have had enough of anyone touching him there. I'm curious if anyone knows if this sounds like a parasite, and if so where do I go from here. I'm thinking if it was string inside of him for over a week wouldn't it take a few days for the irritation to go away? What else could this be. The dr says if it was yeast it would have shown up in a culture. Is that true? Would a parasite show up? Any advice?
