Happy Birthday . Today when I woke up, I was wondering if it was

somebody's birthday and among my friends, nome of them were born on august 14.

So now I understand why I thought about it. Because u my friend are already

close to my heart and only yesterday I was telling my husband about how much

support u have given me and how sweet u r. I got ur email a few days ago but

wanted to respond when there was a little peace around me. My son mostly home

these days and we just started valtrex so it has been a little overwhelming. I

will email u soon. I am so happy for ur kids and u r an awesome mom.

Thanks for sharing with us.

great improvement without the negatives with this combo. That has allowed both

my sons to eat salicylates again. They have had apples, grapes, strawberries,

tomato-based products, strawberry jelly, etc. I started slowly with fear and

trepidation, but have been able to give them a fairly regular amount and have

not had a problem yet. What a blessing!! I know this is what helped because it

is the only change I made for my NT son.

My son has been doing so well and has conquered nearly all his remaining issues in the last couple months.

Both my sons were completely intolerant of salicylates and can now eat them with no problems.

My youngest (ASD) has come so far over the years, but still dealt with anxiety, OCD behaviors, aggression, controlling behavior, and general trouble with mood.

Here's what we did to help with those remianing issues:

Yasko testing which helped us fine-tune his protocol. I HIGHLY recommend this testing - it is worth every dime spent!

Ammonia support through limiting protein, yucca, and activated charcoal once or twice per week.

Glutamate reduction (we were doing this already, but got even better about it.)

B6 - this ended up being magical for my son, but genetically he can have trouble with it, so other factors had to be under control before we could supplement it.

Methylation. This one was the key for salicylate sensitivity. We had been giving mb12 shots with folinic acid supplements to both my sons (one ASD, one NT but has methylation issues) for years, but I felt that they had reached a point where they weren't tolerating them as well as they should be. Wow- thank you for this encouraging post. Would you mind sharing your yasko results so I can compare them with my son's? Sounds like they might be similar and I would really love to get some improvement on mood, aggression, anger and salicylates. Thanks in advance (I know it will take a while to type it out )!!!Kim I thought I would share an update. I have read about findings that the blood brain barrier (BBB) is damaged

and/or the receptors needed to get the nutrients to the head are

damaged, which results in the body having normal oxygen and nutrients

but not the brain. Anyhow, I have definitely always noticed a

significant improvement when nutrients were absorbed in the mouth lining

as compared to the stomach. It could be that they can reach the brain

that way.

Thanks for sharing because this is what these forums are all about!

Sure. I am using the ones sold on the Holistic Health website.

Hydroxy B12: http://www.holisticheal.com/hydroxy-b12-mega-drops.html

Both of my sons are taking 5 drops each day. My youngest is also getting B12

from other supplements.

5 mthf: http://www.holisticheal.com/methylmate-b-nutritional-supplement.html

Each son takes three drops each day. That is equal to 1/4th of a Folapro tablet

and is the amount recommended by Dr. Yasko.

I have four kids, but the boys I am referring to are 8 years old (almost 9) and

7 years old.
