Guest guest
My son is 52# and on 500mg 3x a day (1500mg total). He started at 250 mg 3x a day when he was 3 and moved to 500mg when he was 5. He was still in the low 30's then. * * * Cheryl * * * ~ Antiviral Therapy 101~~ Make a biomed book ~~ gryffinstail.wordpress.com ~~ @Gryffins_Tail ~ Hi there, I started my son on valtrex 2 weeks ago and he is currently on 250 mg three times a day. My son weighs 74 lbs and I know that a lot of parents have used 500 mg dose. When I asked my dan, he agreed that twice a day dosing is not enough but allowed 250 mg 4 times a day to bring it to a total of 1000 mg a day. Is this the right approach? I was thinking of may be trying 500 mg three times a day. Dosing it 4 times a day will not work as my son doesn't get home till 4 pm. Since it is half a tablet, it will need to be crushed and mixed in pear sauce before he takes it. I don't think that school nurse can handle all that. 4 times a day is just not practical once the school starts. I was wondering if moms could share their experience with the valtrex dosing and if any of u did start with 250 mg dose three times a day, when did you jump to 500 mg dose? Did increasing the dose help more or it was the same? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks is
Guest guest
Thanks Cheryl. I am gradually going up to 500 mg. And yes I am maintaining notes on each and every supplement, diet and everyday events and behaviors. And that is the reason I felt that his symptoms that I saw at the start of the treatment were yeast related. Saw good results with increasing the probiotics dose. For me the clue to yeast flare is hunger and carb cravings and he just becomes obsessed with food and once the yeast treatment or probiotics kick in, symptoms lessen in severity and sometimes disappear. is > > > Hi there, > > > > I started my son on valtrex 2 weeks ago and he is currently on 250 mg three times a day.
