What is autism?

Autism is a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by significant impairments

in social, behavioral and communicative function. Evidence indicates that

children with autism suffer from an ongoing neuroinflammatory process in

different regions of the brain involving microglial activation. Microglial

activation result in a loss of connections between the neurons reducing their

function and leading to what is known as autism.
