Hi Jamila,

My instinct as a mother tells me NOT to do any surgery in my autistic child,

unless recommended by a doctor as really essential to her health.

If you autistic son has not been having any ear or throat infections lately,

why would you submit him to general anesthesia, the though experience of being

in a hospital, and any post-surgery pains or other uncomfortable feelings?I will definitely NOT do it, unless a doctor tells me it's extremelly necessary!Best of luck!XexaTo: mb12valtrex From: jayrumah@...Date: Tue, 30 Oct 2012 15:28:33 +0000Subject: VERY IMPT QUESTION ON TONSILS

Please look at anesthesia recommendations before either of your children

undergoes a procedure. http://www.autism.com/index.php/pro_anesthesia

Does your ASD son have PANDAS?

Usually when the kids have continual Strep infections, then tonsils become a big

issue

of causing so many Neuro problems.

Usually ins. will not cover taking them out unless there has been a lot of

reoccuring infections and then the Dr's has to of course agree to take them out.

My son is now recovered and is an engineer at Boeing. I had his tonsils taken out when he was in first grade and it was one of the best things I ever did to help his immune system. He had constant strep and the antibiotics were not effective in helping it go away. Whenever he was sick I got sick too. Once his tonsils were gone all that went away. But when the doctor said it was a 14 day recovery, it took the 14 days.Best,Marcia
