Guest guest
keep us posted. glad hte dr is being so thorough. aka mom2ben99 (jennilee75@...) Kay Independent Beauty Consultant http://www.marykay.com/koopmans Pamper yourself, wrap yourself in luxury, you deserve it...visit my website to see all our products. saw dr. today in RE: my upper right side pain well i called the dr. this morning, and talked with the nurse. her 1st suspect was my gallbladder too. bt since i don't have one, she asked for me to come in and get checked out. i saw the dr. and he spoke fast and asked a lot of questions... he pushed around and felt up and down my body. he asked about my history of my previous adhesions, hernia, and asked about my liver... then, he had the nurse write me out a slip to have an internal ultrasound tomorrow AM, and more extensive bloodwork done. he kind of scared me when he said he wanted to rule out an ectopic pregnancy! he said i have no real other signs (no bleeding, spotting, " cramps " or fever, etc.) but he wants to be safe. he said b/c i am a post op GB, he wants to use caution and rule out the worst first, then deal with scar tissue, etc. he deals with just about all of us in my area (my GB dr. sends all his preggos to him).... he is aware of our condition and risks. he also handles high risk pregnancies, on the daily basis... so i am comfortable with him and his decisions. plus i have a real good friend who is a family dr. and she said he is awesome and when she gets pregnant, he's gonna be her dr. so he sounds good, huh? trust is the key. i will let you guys know what i find out about these darn side pains. you know they haven't even really hurt much today though (i think i am phyching myself out)... geees, i just thought it was something simple. oh well, one day at a time and i'm not stressing until i know for sure and then i will! ) Children are a blessing, and a gift from the Lord. -Psalm 127:
Guest guest
-- I hope the ultrasound gives you the answer you need but if it doesn't I highly recommend that you ask for a cat scan if the pain continues or worsens. I had a very similar sounding pain in my upper right side while pregnant. Because I was pregnant the docs did not want to do a cat scan to protect the baby so I just had an ultrasound which really can't show you much. A few weeks after my ultrasound, while 5 1/2 months pregnant, I was rushed into surgery to have a third of my intestines removed. The pain I was feeling was the beginnings of what would become 8 feet of completely dead intestines. I really don't want to alarm you because all of us have such different situations, no two stories will be the same. But I thought I would encourage you to ask for the Catscan if the ultrasound does not find the solution. Good luck and keep us posted..I am very curious what the docs find. Guest guest
Steph, This is exactly the kind of thing I was trying to describe a couple of weeks ago to someone else! I was lucky enough that I did not have to have any portion of my intestine removed but the docs told me that it could be a complication of an internal hernia left untreated. I had to have the same surgery(repairing this internal knot in my intestines) twice so far(pre pregnancy). I can only HOPE TO GOD it never happens again, as it was some of the worst pain I have had in all my life! I have had 3 children, 3 c-sections, a gastric bypass, surgery to have a pin inserted in my ankle and am on my 4th pregnancy and I am quite sure nothing will ever compare to that pain.
