Guest guest
is - we dose almost on the schedule you noted. More like 7:30, 3:30, and 9. I think you are fine. Sent from my iPhone My son has been on 500 mg 3x a day for a couple weeks but he was home and it was easy to dose it 3xdaily. I know some parents are giving the valtrex at school and I was planning to do that. My son comes home at 3:45 pm. Is there anyone with a similar scenario and giving valtrex after school? That would mean 8 am, around 4 pm and 8 pm again. But the distribution is not right. Please share how you dose valtrex and how cooperative school has been. I have been having meetings for IEP revision with school and don't want them to use anything against my son for services. Thanks is > > > > > For valtrex the doseage is 500 mgs 3 times per day for a minimum of 6 months.....may need to keep going if you continue to see gains/rashes/symptoms. The doseage for diflucan is 100 mgs per day (if on diflucan you need to have bloodwork done every 2 months to check the liver). I am not sure of the doseage for vanco. > > > > > > > > To: mb12valtrex > > Sent: Sunday, September 2, 2012 8:11 PM > > Subject: Antivirals, Antifungals, Antibacterials > > > > > > Hi there, > > I'm new to the antiviral therapy, but I'm wondering the dosages and lengths of time one should use certain medications, and what medications are most effective. Guest guest
Hi is,I have been dosing my son 6am, 345pm and 8pm and have been concerned about this too. Dr. Amy said it was okay like this but I am still wondering if I should either take it in earlier to school or wake him up to give him a night dose. I have had to do the latter a couple times after forgetting it and my son goes straight back to sleep. Anyway, I would love to hear from others if it is okay to give it with 2 10hr intervals and 1 4hr interval as currently. Personally, I haven't seen a difference from when I give it at 345 and when I gave it at 100pm as during the summer.Any other comments on this? Guest guest
I think you can give the probiotic after school with the valtrex. Sent from my iPhone Thanks Ruth and . While you are dosing valtrex like this, what time do you give any binders? My son is asleep by 9:30 max. Plus he is also on vancomycin and diflucan. I have been giving him activated charcoal right before he falls asleep. Now the issue is probiotics also. Since he is on diflucan(with dinner) and vanco with breakfast and dinner, when should I give the probiotic. This is the only reason I loved summer(otherwise it was too busy)as I was able to keep a good schedule of meds. Activated charcoal absorbs everything and I am not too knowledgeaable with other binders. If you have any low phenolic binder ideas, please let me know. The school physician also suggested after school dosing would be fine. The nurse said that they will not wash off the dye and will give the valtrex if his doctor signs the form. If this kind of uneven distribution is really ok with valtrex then I would prefer to give it at home just to keep things simpler. If anyone has anything against using this frequency, please share. Guest guest
Hi alexis, i'm having a hard time getting the binder in actually (citrus pectin to be given an hour after and before other stuff). When I can, I give it an hour after dinner/main vits and supplements and then an hour before candidase/zinc followed by probiotics no 2 and then valtrex....this means they eat at 430 or 500 (finish meal and dinner supps by 530), citrus pectin 630 and candidase/zinc 730 and probiotics/homeopatic and the valtrex 8....to be honest though I have never seen anything good with the citrus pectin and would like to stop it. I am wondering if they may be igg/phenol sensitive to it anyway. We are confirming with dr. Amy that my kids are having alot of inflammatory reactions to supps etc due to viral/immune issues so I think 'less will be more' for us.-- Sent from my Palm Pre I think you can give the probiotic after school with the valtrex. Guest guest
is, we've used Apple Pectin powder here.. it seems to work well too. We always got constipation with the activated charocoal if we had to use it for nmore than few days. The Apple Pectin didn't cause constipation and seemed well tolerated. This might be another option to ease up die off reactions. When school starter we had to shorten the time spand a wee bit, as there were not enough hours in the day I moved everything that one hour apart in the morning to 30 minutes and it seemed to still work, I just made all nutritional supps were a good 2hours behind or before the anti viral and fungals.
