Guest guest
Hello all. No time to post much in the last month, barely time to read the posts I do get! I am now about 29 weeks preggers with my first baby, no probs. We sold our house and closed on 9/28 and have been living in a hotel ever since, we close on our new house tomorrow, so my internet time has been really sporadic! I just wanted to post on how many people right now on these groups are living in hotels! I know I read one post from this list about someone selling a townhome and going to a hotel, and another list I'm on a lady is in the same boat as me waiting for her house to get built! I just had to mention this, because for all of us to be stuck in hotels, and pregnant, waiting to get into houses is TOO bizarre to happen at the same time! LOL. Rachael~ I'm not sure if what you have is gas pain, but I went through the same thing with HORRIBLE pain that radiated around into my back. I went to the ER first time it happened convinced I was going to die, but all bloodwork and scans came back fine. Doc spoke to my WLS surgeon and they concluded it was gas and for me to take beano as a preventative and phayzyme when it happened. It has happened about 5 times in the past 2 years, always excruciating pain that (for me) lasts about 2-6 hours and then bam.....it's gone. I do believe in my case it is gas because I tested the theory. I ate cabbage one day and had a horrible attack.........so I waited a week, ate cabbage again and it happened again. The beano DOES help, the phayzyme didn't seem to do much. Hope this helps! C. Guest guest
, Thank you so much for your input. I still haven't discounted gas because I have noticed this come up when eating broccoli, onions & peppers, big salads, eggplant, etc. And while the attack is happening, if I get down on the ground and rock from side to side, I am able to release gas and it helps the pain slightly. BUT, here's my story. My primary doc referred me to a gastroenterologist who I saw. He either disapproved of my surgery or my pregnancy or both but either way, was very cold and only spoke in monosyllables to me and wouldn't look me in the eye. He then asked if I wanted to " keep the kid " . For crying out loud, I'm married and almost 14 weeks pregnant and if I wanted an abortion, I wouldn't be seeing a gastroenterologist! I said of course I want my baby! He said he thought I could possibly have an internal hernia or adhesions but only after I suggested the possibility. I pretty much RAN from his office in tears. I promptly called my surgeon and saw him yesterday morning. He said that there was always the possibility of adhesions or hernia - any unexplained abdominal pain could mean either possibility. He wants me to get to the ER next time I'm having an attack and have an MRI done. He even wrote a little note for the ER doc, explaining what he thinks might be wrong and what they should look for on the MRI. If we can actually diagnose the hernia, my surgeon still thinks as long as the attacks come and go like they have been, I can make it through my pregnancy and have surgery after the baby comes. Obviously if I have an attack that doesn't go away, I will have to have emergency surgery and the surgeon feels that if its in my second trimester, the baby should be okay. My more immediate problem for which I need advice (PLEASE, PLEASE) is that I have lost 15 lbs in my first trimester. These attacks certainly haven't helped the situation. As I head into my 2nd trimester, I need to start gaining weight (my ob says about 15 lbs through my pregnancy) and I feel like I am doing everything I can. I drink Ensure in the morning, try to eat throughout the day, and try to eat a protein bar in the afternoon. Any advice??? > Hello all.
