Guest guest
welcome and congratulations lisa. call your Ob first, then your surgeon. you'll jsut need to be sure you are doing well with vitamins, and drink lots of water. if you don't have a regular ob, call your surgeon and ask for a recommendation, or call around and ask if they've had experience with post WLS patients. since you are so far out, i'm sure you will be treated very normally. i'm jennifer, sahm to 5 year old banjamin and 20 weeks pregnant with #2. married to just returned home air force man david. we live in wichita kansas. my hobbies are scrapbooking, the computer and anything to do with my son. aka mom2ben99 (jennilee75@...) Okay so I am 17 mos. Post op from surgery I have lost a total of 150 lbs and am down to 135 I had been feeling a bit under the weather and my friend was late so I took a preg test last night and it was positive so I took another and it was positive so just to be safe I took another one this morning and again positive.. I am absolutely scared out of my mind b/c I am not sure where to even begin? Do I call my ob/gyn first or my surgeon? Are there special rules I will have to follow? I am not a new mommy, I have a seven year old girl and a 3 year old son. Well if there is anyone who can offer me any advice I am all ears(or all eyes).. Feel free to email me and say hello especially if you are in the boston area.. Guest guest
Congrats - I would recommend the OB. My WL surgeon refers all of the pregnancy stuff to the OB. Guest guest
Lynne, From your post it sounds like the surgery is what they call a pelvic exoneration. My mother is stage IV also and seems to be in the same situation as your mom. Hers also broke through to the vaginal area and invaded the bladder. We spoke to three doctors about this kind of surgery and they felt that the survival rate for this type of surgery is very low, about 25%. My mom decided not to have the surgery and to continue on maintenance chemo indefinitely. Basically, this means she will have chemo until she has had enough or it stops working. Its been a year and so far so good. She still has some pain but we just take each day however we can get it. I wish you guys the best of luck no matter which way you go, I hope your mom does good.
