Guest guest
, I had this same thing happen to me last month and I will be 5 months this coming Wednesday. I went to the ER and everything they did to you is what they did to me. They had told me to see my OB doctor as soon as I could and no matter what get plenty of rest, no lifting anything, no straining, no sex, etc. That is what I did and I stopped bleeding and cramping. Let us know how things go when you see your OB doctor. D. Texas Gastric Bypass 4-18-03 -103 pounds Pregnant with 2nd child(19 weeks) Only gained 4 pounds so far! Guest guest
when i was 7 weeks i had spotting on and off for 10 days. of course i went to ER right away and all was fine, they stated it was a threatened miscarriage. i also had two days of spotting about 14 weeks along, everything is fine. basically my dr and everyone told me that it is common to have spotting nad most spotting carries on to be a healthy pregnancy. it is very scary tho, i'm there with you on that one. try to take it easy. and you went to dr and got to see all was fine, so be thankful and try to focus on that. hugs... aka mom2ben99
Guest guest
Hi , Although I'm sure you already have sorted it out with your doctor I just wanted to add another positive note to all the great posts you've received. I am right at about 8 weeks preggo and have also had some spotting. Another reason for this other than detachment of placenta or miscarriage it may just be that the cervix gets especially soft during pregnancy and sometimes activity or sex can cause the cervix to bleed a little. So, in these cases it's not from inside the uterus - it's just the cervix. I finally get to go in for my US in a couple of days but haven't had any real spotting for a week. I noticed the red blood right after intercourse and then brown spotting thereafter. I have also miscarried before but just the idea of another possible option seemed to help me mentally relax. Do disregard my information if your doc told you something else. I hope this helps....good luck to us both! The sad thing about it is, there is nothing that we (or you or your OB) can do if indeed it is going to be a miscarriage. That is the saddest part about being in obstetrics. If it is going to happen, it will. I know these aren't encouraging words, but with you having had a previous M/C, I'm certain you know this already. Many, many, many pregnant women bleed some at the beginning, during and sometimes they bleed the entire pregnancy, and deliver a healthy baby. > > The only things you can do are rest, rest, rest, eat well, drink plenty of fluids to stay hydrated and put absolutely nothing into your vagina (no tampons, douching or sexual intercourse). > > The absolute WORST part about this is the only thing you can do is *wait* which seems like an eternity. > > Try to rest and think on the positive side. All things happen for a reason. The fact that you have not had any bleeding since yesterday is a very good thing. Bright red blood is fresh/new bleeding whereas brownish blood is older blood. > When you get back home or if you are still in WA in 2 days, you need to have another quantitative HCG test done to see if your numbers are going up instead of going down. This would be an excellent indicator that things are going for the best at this time. > > Best wishes and rest rest rest! This means, lying on your back or side with your feet propped up on pillows, going to the restroom ONLY when you have to pee. Nothing else. Strict bedrest. Although whatever will be, will be, at least you will have done anything possible to worsen the situation. > > > *Hugs* > Sheila (L & D RN)
