Guest guest
Hi , I can totally understand how scary bleeding in the first trimester is...especially given that you have already had a miscarriage. I had bleeding starting at 6 weeks...It was light spotting mostly and ranged from pink to brown. My u/s at 6 weeks was normal, had another at 7 weeks, 10, 12 as well. All along through those weeks, I would go a few days without spotting, then I would spot...each time it just made my heart hurt with fear. Implantation bleeding is usually around the 6-8 week mark from what I understand. For me, my 12 week u/s actually showed a collection of blood between my uterus and placenta. It was actually called a " moderate subchorionic bleed " ...which means bleeding at the site of attachment. The interesting thing is that I hadn't bled for a few days before that u/s and I never did bleed afterwards...the blood will sometimes get reabsorbed... So, here I sit, 33.5 weeks pregnant...and still, every time I go to the bathroom, I look for blood. I think it is natural to worry when you have been through a hard time like that...Keep an eye on it, ...and don't ever ever hesitate to see a Dr right away, even for mild spotting. I am an RN who works in telephone triage and we say that all bleeding should be checked out in a timely manner... Wishing you all the best with your pregnancy, , VBG May 03 -104lb in 9 mos 33.5 weeks preg with #1, a girl! Jorja EDC Nov 10 > ladies, > > Hi this is in Nevada and I need some help. The sad thing about it is, there is nothing that we (or you or your OB) can do if indeed it is going to be a miscarriage. That is the saddest part about being in obstetrics. If it is going to happen, it will. I know these aren't encouraging words, but with you having had a previous M/C, I'm certain you know this already. Many, many, many pregnant women bleed some at the beginning, during and sometimes they bleed the entire pregnancy, and deliver a healthy baby. > > The only things you can do are rest, rest, rest, eat well, drink plenty of fluids to stay hydrated and put absolutely nothing into your vagina (no tampons, douching or sexual intercourse). > > The absolute WORST part about this is the only thing you can do is *wait* which seems like an eternity. > > Try to rest and think on the positive side. All things happen for a reason. The fact that you have not had any bleeding since yesterday is a very good thing. Bright red blood is fresh/new bleeding whereas brownish blood is older blood. > When you get back home or if you are still in WA in 2 days, you need to have another quantitative HCG test done to see if your numbers are going up instead of going down. This would be an excellent indicator that things are going for the best at this time. > > Best wishes and rest rest rest! This means, lying on your back or side with your feet propped up on pillows, going to the restroom ONLY when you have to pee. Nothing else. Strict bedrest. Although whatever will be, will be, at least you will have done anything possible to worsen the situation. > > > *Hugs* > Sheila (L & D RN)
