Guest guest
For valtrex the doseage is 500 mgs 3 times per day for a minimum of 6 months.....may need to keep going if you continue to see gains/rashes/symptoms. The doseage for diflucan is 100 mgs per day (if on diflucan you need to have bloodwork done every 2 months to check the liver). I am not sure of the doseage for vanco. To: mb12valtrex Sent: Sunday, September 2, 2012 8:11 PM Subject: Antivirals, Antifungals, Antibacterials Hi there, I'm new to the antiviral therapy, but I'm wondering the dosages and lengths of time one should use certain medications, and what medications are most effective. I've tried finding this information on Stan Kurtz' website but have been unsuccessful. What would the dosage and length of trial be for an 135lb female for the following medications: Diflucan Flagyl or Vancomycin and Valtrex also, how often would this person need to take a b12 shot, and what is the best variety? Thanks!!
Guest guest
Thank you for the information! Just out of curiosity-- the dosage is the same even for adults?
Guest guest
No the doseage is different for kids and adults. The doseage for kids for valtrre is 250 mgs 3 times per day (under 50 pounds) and over 50 pounds then it goes to 500 mgs 3 times per day. For diflucan for kids it's 50 mgs per day and adults 100 mgs per day. It is important to dose the valtrex 3 times per day as the half life is only 2.5 to 3 hours so in rder to keep a steady stream working you need to dose 3 times. Guest guest
You may also need to keep going because you just do. My son's been on antivirals and antifungals since he was 3. He'll be 9 next month. I try every year to remove it. Every year it fails miserably.Check my signature for more info. * * * Cheryl * * * ~ Antiviral Therapy 101~~ Make a biomed book ~~ gryffinstail.wordpress.com ~~ @Gryffins_Tail ~ For valtrex the doseage is 500 mgs 3 times per day for a minimum of 6 months.....may need to keep going if you continue to see gains/rashes/symptoms. Guest guest
My son has been on 500 mg 3x a day for a couple weeks but he was home and it was easy to dose it 3xdaily. I know some parents are giving the valtrex at school and I was planning to do that. My son comes home at 3:45 pm. Is there anyone with a similar scenario and giving valtrex after school? That would mean 8 am, around 4 pm and 8 pm again. But the distribution is not right. Please share how you dose valtrex and how cooperative school has been. I have been having meetings for IEP revision with school and don't want them to use anything against my son for services. Guest guest
Thanks Ruth and . While you are dosing valtrex like this, what time do you give any binders? My son is asleep by 9:30 max. Plus he is also on vancomycin and diflucan. I have been giving him activated charcoal right before he falls asleep. Now the issue is probiotics also. Since he is on diflucan(with dinner) and vanco with breakfast and dinner, when should I give the probiotic. This is the only reason I loved summer(otherwise it was too busy)as I was able to keep a good schedule of meds. Activated charcoal absorbs everything and I am not too knowledgeaable with other binders. If you have any low phenolic binder ideas, please let me know. The school physician also suggested after school dosing would be fine. The nurse said that they will not wash off the dye and will give the valtrex if his doctor signs the form. If this kind of uneven distribution is really ok with valtrex then I would prefer to give it at home just to keep things simpler. If anyone has anything against using this frequency, please share. Guest guest
Thanks Ellie and Ruth. I would actually prefer this over asking school to help in any way. is > > That's what we do, also - 8 AM, after school at 4 and then before bed at 8 or 9 PM. > > Cheryl had said it was ok when I asked the group a few months ago... > > Ellie >
Guest guest
, I use activated charcoal which pretty much absorbs everything. I do see good results especially when I am dealing with die off. But it should be given 2 hours away from foods and supps. When my son goes to full time school, I just don't know when to give it. The best time is to make it the last thing my son takes. With three times dosing of valtrex, it just seems difficult. I was giving my son probiotics before breakfast and before dinner and now he is on oral vanco for clostridia flare so after school is the only good time for probiotics. I have decided that I will use probiotic at bedtime and alternate it with charcoal. I am not knowledgeable about citrus pectin but I think if it is derived from orange peel, it may contain salicylates but don't know for sure. Since I always see results with activated charcoal when needed, I didn't try any other binder so far. But would love to get some ideas. is > > & gt; & gt; > > & gt; & gt; & gt; > > & gt; & gt; & gt; For valtrex the doseage is 500 mgs 3 times per day for a minimum of 6 months.....may need to keep going if you continue to see gains/rashes/symptoms.
