Guest guest
Hello ladies! I am going into my eighth week of pregnancy. I am doing well. I have had 2 internal ultrasounds and everything looks good. YAY! This is my first pregnancy and I am 5 months post op. I had an open gastric bypass in April. I was 255 pounds to start with, 223 when I had my surgery and now I am 176 pounds. My ob said that he would be happy if I could gain 15 pounds. I will try. I have had loads of bloodwork and all is good except my vitamin B 12. I have to start injections monthly. Will I have to have them as long as I breastfeed as well? Does anyone know, has this happened to anyone before? I am just looking for input. I am also so irritable that sometimes I can hardly stand myself! Am I alone here? I just don't know. My friends say that this will even out and my whole pregnancy won't be too bad, I am not sick or in pain, just moody! Any input would be great. Thanks!! First of all, congratulations on your pregnancy! I was 2 years post-op when I got pregnant and had to start taking the B12 shots after becoming pregnant. My surgeon usually has most of his post-op patients take the shots, but my B12 levels were never low until I got pregnant and stopped taking my B Complex vitamin and started taking a prenatal vitamin. So, I started giving myself the B12 shots when I was about 2-3 months pregnant. I've never given myself a shot before, but it really isn't hard. I found the perfect place on my thigh, about six inches down from the top of my leg, into the muscle/fat, and it doesn't hurt at all. I am going to continue with the B12 shots even after I give birth. One of the side-effects of a B12 deficiency is extreme fatigue, which I experienced in the first trimester, and I really don't want to go through that again. As far as the mood swings, it is normal since our hormones are our of whack. However, I got so emotional, & my anxiety was so high in my second trimester that it was starting to overwhelm me, so I started taking an anti-depressant. Boy do I feel better now! I wish you luck with your pregnancy! Mommy to Duel 5/28/97, Caitlin 1/13/99, and Caris Marie 10/06/04 12/11/01 Open RNY
Guest guest
how often do you take the shots? I would love to be able to administer them to myself at home!

How can I just go to the site and read. The mail is getting overwhelming. It must have been something I clicked on when I registered at this site. I really want to share my story, but I guess I can't receiving emails on Yahoo. Please advise.
