Guest guest
Hi ladies, My name is Marj and I've been reading these boards for months, even before we were pg. I had my lap RNY on 1/26/04 and I'm currently 26 weeks 2 days pregnant with our first child. I went from 271 to a current weight of 188. I have lost about 20 pounds since conception, despite my attempts to maintain my weight. He's a boy, Elijah . When we went for our 20 week fetal survey (at almost 23 weeks) he was weighing 1 pound 9 ounces already! Everything looks good organ- wise and spine-wise. He's very healthy! Things have been smooth, lots of ultrasounds because I had a cyst on my ovary - but that seems to be going away. I have been monitored in L & D twice, once for decreased fetal movement (little stinker!) and once because I was having really bad upper abdominal pain - which, embarassingly enough, they diagnosed as.... indigestion/heartburn. Later though, I found out I had the stomach flu! I'm getting pretty big around the belly. And I like poking him when he is jumping around in there.. and boy, does he move a lot! My doc practically forced the glucose test on me.... so, this Monday I took the glucose tolerance test and I had the WORST dumping experience ever! I made it through the hour with just a rapid heart rate, so I was pretty excited thinking I made it without getting sick. I left the lab after the blood draw and got to my car, drove about 100 yards, slammed it in park and ran into the building straight to the restroom. It was like drinking the MoM all over again, but 10 times worse! So I thought I was better and got in the car and headed back on my way - feeling really bad! There are no restrooms on the road from the hospital to my house - all country. It was scary, but I made it. Anyways, my levels came back at 180 and the cut off is 140 so they wanted me to do the 3 hour, this time I said heck no and they are just going to consider me diabetic. Oh joy. I look forward to the next several weeks of 4X a day pricking myself! I'm rambling on here... I've been quiet this whole pg on these boards because I've been so busy, but hopefully I'll be able to post some more.
