Guest guest
Hello...this is my first time here so bear with me if I'm asking anything repetitive. (Sorry!) I'm 7 yrs post-op...had Gastric Bypass Roux-en-y the old fashioned way. (Not laparscopic) Had no complications or problems at all aside from a bout with severe Vitamin D deficiency last year which has since been cleared up. My hubby and I are hoping to start a family early next year and I want to be sure I'm in a " healthy " condition prior to conceiving. My Ob/Gyn ran blood tests yesterday and she said as long as vitamin and thyroid levels are " normal " that a prenatal and extra folic acid is all I'll need to keep my vitamin levels normal. She said she would check my levels periodially both before pregnancy and once I am pregnant to be sure baby has enough nutrients. Is this sufficent for us GB patients or is it also necessary to work with a nutritionist? Again, I'm 7 yrs post-op so my weight has stabalized. THANKS!
