Guest guest
Our functional neurologist prefers Pyridoxal 5-Phosphate (P5P) - it is a B6 vitamin. He describes it as working a higher center of the brain and his example is this: giving P5P is like giving the brain a needle and thread & fabric whereas melatonin is like giving the brain a T-shirt (if that makes sense) - basically - the P5P covers more ground and you only use it as you need versus the higher frequency of melatonin. We use 2 (33.8mg) capsules (broken into food or juice) and only as needed. This is the link to the brand we use: http://thorne.com/Products/Vitamins/prd~B116.jsp (I'm sorry, I don't know the rules - I hope it is okay to share a link to our brand) Of course, the use of 2 capsules is what he prescribed specifically for us - I believe you can take up to 5, safely - but are to start with 2 and slowly increase every 5-7 days, as needed. Please seek professional advice as to dosing as this is a new product to us and I am still learning! We are new to using this product and it does help him sleep later, as my son likes to wake around 4:00-4:30am. He is now sleeping until 5:30 or 6:00. The statements I have made are what I understand to be true of our fairly new journey into functional neurology! Also, I have a friend who likes to use True Calm over melatonin, for her son. Hope it helps..... To: "mb12valtrex " <mb12valtrex > Sent: Saturday, September 8, 2012 11:06 AM Subject: Re: Melatonin/alternatives?
