Guest guest
I am glad that someone else feels the same way I do about this.. I have also been reading the posts and keeping my comments to myself about some of the women on this board that are just scared to death to gain an ounce from pregnancy. I dont know about you guys but I got the surgery not to look like a supermodel but to be a more healthy weight and to actually live long enough to see my children grow up. After weighing 313 lbs I am quite happy with my weight and should I gain a pound or 2 from having another baby, so be it. I know i will never weigh what I weighed before. I too think that some of you need some serious professional help when it comes to this matter. It is not good to be so obsessed with a weight flucuation while pregnant. It is normal and very healthy. You have lives growing inside you that you want to be healthy and shouldnt suffer because you are afraid to gain a little. This is just my opinion. Good luck to you all and your babies. Guest guest
I am a member but have never posted before. I'd also like to comment on the weight issue. I'm currently 32 weeks pregnant and I too was concerned about my weight gain with this pregnancy. My pre-preg. weight was 143 and I was already up to 175 by my 7 month and know the baby grows the most during those last two months. But I now realize that there is a reason for everything. About two weeks ago I began having severe abdominal and back pain and was hospitalized for 4 days. After many consults with various docs, it was determined that I was having gall bladder problems. Since then, I've had almost daily attacks, and the plan is to have the gall bladder removed as soon as the baby gets here. I've lost 17 lbs. since Oct. 31st due to the gall bladder problems and the difficulty I'm having eating without pain. My baby is still doing okay thank God but without the extra weight, she may not be. My OB and other docs are now trying to do everything to get me to at least maintain my weight over these next 8 weeks. My whole point with all this is that had I tried really hard not to gain any weight during the pregnancy and then had this happen, I would have probably had many more complications. Please don't beat yourself up if you gain some weight. It WILL come off when this is all over. The baby needs the extra weight and if any of you are like me, just remind yourself of your start weight before WLS. I was 298lbs. and even at 175 and pregnant I was much better off than carrying almost 300lbs. Jody
Guest guest
well, this has been an ongoing issue with every new member it appears. Most every new member worries about how much weight she is going to gain and how fast it will come off. WE ALL ARE DIFFERENT GIRLS!!! After suffering from secondary infertility, I took fertility drugs which added about 20# and then another 10 or so from decreased activity after childbirth. I gained only 18# with the pg, that was gone entirely within 2 weeks. to me, getting my perfect little angel is and was much MUCH more important than gaining a few pounds. I drink regluar pepsi, sweet southern iced tea and if I stop both of those, I can (and have) lost 10-12# in about 2 weeks without excercising any. And thats another thing. I've never really excercised much- being an RN and working 12 hr shifts on my feet should count for something, but since it isn't an aerobic activity, it doesn't shed the pounds! in any case.... dont sweat the weight gain, unless you are having unhealthy EATING habits. Not enough protein, not enough water, not enough vits and minerals and you may have a difficult time with your preg after you have the baby. Seeing so many women on this list miscarrying is much more heart-wrenching to me than seeing a few worried about a few pounds.
