Guest guest
Welcome, ! Congratulations on your weight loss and on your pregnancy. By " banded " , do you mean you had a VBG (vertical banded gastroplasty)? That is the surgery I had. Mine was done in May of 2003. I got pregnant 9 mos post op in Feb 2004 after having lost over 100lb. I am currently 36+ weeks pregnant and will be delivering next week sometime due to some health concerns. VBG pts do not have the absorption issues as much as RNY pts, but I can tell you that small frequent meals have been the way for me. I had alot of vomiting and actually lost some weight in the first trimester. My capacity has increased some and the cravings have been interesting to deal with...I am so looking forward to having my baby girl and can't wait for the next chapter of my life... Best of luck to you, and again, welcome Z > > > Hi all: > > My name is and I was banded in June of 2003. To date, I have > lost 77.5lbs. I was 330 when I started and am 252.5 now. Guest guest
Thank you and for your replies!! I had Gastric Banding - Midband surgery in Mexico. It is just a band around my stomach that they can fill with Saline if I stop losing weight or can de-fill for whatever reason. I have not been surgically altered (stapled or re-routed) or anything. Therefore, my digestion is perfectly fine and absorption is just like any person who has not had surgery. Basically it just inhibits how much I can eat at a time...which is why your suggestion for small meals more often is an excellent one. The feeling that I am getting overall, is that even with WLS, women continue to have healthy pregnancies as long as they make conscious and healthful choices. I hope that is a correct assumption! I love to scrapbook too...as a matter of fact, I was just at a Scrapbook Expo last night and stayed for Crop Night. The page I am most proud of is a the profile of a pregnant woman and her shirt flaps up to reveal the picture of the ultrasound. I got it from a vendor out of TN that was there. On the same page, I have a picture of my husband and I and a Directors Clapper that says " Mommy & Daddy Productions Proudly presents... " and then all the vital information will be entered in once the blessed event occurs. My first Doctor's appointment is on Tuesday and my first U/S is on 11/5. I am 9 weeks today. I am not even close to goal and am still grossly overweight so I really hope that I will be able to take this pregnancy to term. I am healthy and active, just still really overweight. If you pray, include me in your prayers, as I will, all of you. Take Care, Mid Band Surgery 06/16/03 330/252.5/150ish... 9 weeks today!!
