Guest guest
The lactation specialist at my hospital recommends either the Medela or Ameda hospital grade pumps. I was pumping exclusively because the baby couldn't latch onto my inverted nipples. The model she recommended for me was the Ameda Lact-E. Now, this is a BIG machine -- it's an older model, but worked fine for me. I kept it on my nightside table and pumped after every feeding. I spoke with the lactation consultant at the vendor who rented it to me, and she recommended a different hospital grade model for next time -- I think it's the " Elite " model. It's not quite as bulky as the other model, and has more flexibility in the speed and suction controls. If you've had trouble nursing in the past, or can tell that your nipples are inverted, the hospital grade pumps are highly recommended (if you can afford them). I have a small Evenflo electric / battery single pump to use for emergencies, which works out fine. Before, I felt tied to the house & the pump, but now I'll just use the Evenflo if I'm out. And, I'm hoping that the next baby will be able to nurse, so it'll all be just for backup. Diane
