Guest guest
Hi everyone! I am new here too, thought I would intro myself and give a little background. My name is Tricia, married to Tony for 9 yrs and we have an almost 5 year old daughter (Alyssa) with ADHD. I was over 300 when I got pregnant with her and other than the fact that I found out I was diabetic within 3 days of finding out I was pregnant it was a fairly uneventful pregnancy until the last 6 weeks. I lost 16#s in the first trimester and at 34 weeks had gained a total of 9#s, which my OB and I were both very happy with considering my size. Unfortunately pre-eclampsia set in and I gained 30#s of fluid in the next 5 weeks before I was induced. Luckily it was all gone and I actually weighed less when I left the hospital then when I got pregnant. I had WLS on 10/23/03 (open RNY) and did really well for the first 4 months, then my eating and exercise was not as good and I slowed to an almost stop (but not quite). Stress eating got worse as the summer went on, I am an only child of a disabled mother who had to have open heart surgery, had a BAD reaction to the heart & lung machine (went very off mentally) and spent a month in the hospital in one ward or another. I finally started getting some help (mentally for the eating issues and all the stress I was under) and learned that some of my problems were impulsivity and that led to a diagnosis of ADHD myself (I suspected shortly after we started learning a lot about it with my daughter). I was starting to do better, not really moving the scales yet but feeling like I was starting to get myself back under control. When I found out I was pregnant! I am due 06/07/05. Because of my diabetes and high risk history my OB wanted some blood work and saw me right away (I was 5 weeks). My blood work looked really good except my iron saturation, so he put me on iron (which I have not been good about taking yet). I am still on insulin (only 15 units at night) but have orders to adjust as needed for the pregnancy and I still take the prenatal vitamin and the B-12 sublingual I have been taking all along. I have stopped all other medications (even though the doctor told me I could continue to take the Welbutrin) for the duration of the pregnancy and any possible breast feeding. Well that is my book, I look forward to getting to know you all too. Guest guest
Thanks! So far so good. Today's tough assignment is taking one of my mom's cats to the shelter. She just can't care for them all and DH doesn't want them. I told Alyssa last night (just that we had to get rid of her not what the shelter would do) and she had at least one bad dream (she talks in her sleep and was crying out that she didn't want to get rid of " Fire " ). And first thig his morning she started asking daddy if she could have her promising she would take care of it, even the litter box. I feel so bad, but we chose " Fire " as the first cat to go because she is the most work (long hair that she doesn't care for and is constantly matted, misses the litter box, etc.) and hopefully with her out of the picture mom can continue to keep the other two.
