Guest guest
Hi, Im a mental health therapist and work closely with several case workers at Social Services. Wic is a federal program that is administered at the State level. The income guidelines are set at 185% above the poverty level. That means for a family of 4, your income must be below about $32,000. Its easier to qualify for WIC than for food stamps or other forms of assistance, as the income level is higher. Plus there are other requirement that one needs to meet in order to qualify. Income alone wont do it. There needs to be a documented nutritional risk to the mom/baby. With gastric bypass surgery, we all would likely meet that requirement. I think it you qualify while pregnant, you are automatically signed up for the whole pregnancy plus 6 weeks post partum. If you get WIC after the babys birth, they recheck your income about every 6 months to stay on the program. I believe you can get eligibility up until the child reaches age 5. At that time other programs are in place to help with nutritional assistance. There is a free/reduced cost lunch and school breakfast program. Hope this helps!!! 10 weeks and still vomiting, hoping it will end soon.
