Blood Trans, Heparin and BFing

As some of you know, I've been fighting severe anemia for years.

Just hours before my 36th wk appt, I found a knot in the line of one

of my varicose veins that ruptured during my faint spell in August.

During the appt, my dr confirmed that it IS in fact a nice-sized

blood clot, that I must check it for movement every morning, keep an

eye on the color and feeling....and to go into ER to have it

immediately removed if any of the aforementioned changes.

He also clarified that (after conversing with my hemotologist) the

hospitals' HRisk dept would be on scene, that they would be

administering Iron both immed before and after the csection and that

I would have blood (for transfusion) readily available in the

delivery room.

Okay, all those wonderful things aside: He asked if I still wanted to

breastfeed (I do very much) and informed me that it SOMETIMES becomes

impossible to breastfeed after getting more Heparin than

average...and pending the blood transfusion, I'll be going home with

a two week supply...and THEN a week of oral medication. He says that

the two in combination can cause my milk to not come-in completely or

dry-up much sooner than usual. AND that the second medication can

sometimes make the baby sick out of allergic reaction.

Has anyone else went through this before? I REALLY WANT TO

BREASTFEED!!!!!

Thanks
