Guest guest
Has anyone heard of letrozole before? My best friends sister was trying to get pregnant for years and did the whole Clomid thing etc and nothing worked. They live in Canada and the doctor she was going to prescribed her to go on Letrozole, which is actually for breast cancer/cancer patients and the first month she took it, got pregnant. Does anyone know anything about this or has anyone taken it? Also, I am need of talking to some PCOS patients who are trying to get pregnant or have been lucky enough to get pregnant. I have PCOS and am having a miserable time trying to get pregnant and just with my monthly cycles. Any stories etc would be most appreciated. Thank you Philippa
Guest guest
I've never heard of that, but my dr. put me on Femara - which is the same thing. I got pregnant after the first month also. I think what it does as a side effect is make high quality plump ovaries. Worked for me! Sandy Medications..... Has anyone heard of letrozole before? Guest guest
I have pcos. I thought that I would never get regnant and now I am 11 weeks 3 days prego! It can happen. I was on the pill, Orthro Cyclen, and still got pregnant, so it can happen. When I was diagnosed with PCOS, I was getting 2 - 3 periods a year, if I was lucky. I was put on the pill to try to regulate my cycle and then 1000mg of glucophage xr a day. I was then bumped up to 2000mg of the glucophage xr a day. I also had horrible migraines and had to treat them with imitrex and sometimes imitrex injections. We had tried other medications for the migraines, but they didn't work. While I was battling to lose weight, I was also put on 120mg of xenical (a fat blocker) 3 times a day. That didn't make a difference, just a waste of money. I had my surgery April 26, 2004, so I am only 6 months post-op. Losing the weight does help. I was about 170 pounds when I got pregnant. I had only lost about 55 pounds since my surgery, but totally I had lost 85 pounds. My reproductive endocrinologist recommended the surgery because I worked my butt off for over a year and the scale hadn't moved much. He didn't think that I would get pregnant on my own...and with having pcos, it may not happen again, ever...I am just praying for a healthy baby. I worry all the time about weather the baby is getting enough nutrients or not. I have not been sick as far as vomiting, but I have been nauseated when I smell food, even as much as a slice of bread in the toaster makes me nauseated! I have been living on saltines, sunny delight, peanuts, salt & vinegar potato chips and raw veggies. If there isn't much of an odor, I can try to eat it, but meats...ick! Hang in there and talk to your doctor. Go to specialists if needed. Follow your gut instinct. You know your body best. Also, since my surgery, I have not been on any medications except the multi vitamins. Now I am on a prenatal vitamin, folic acid and vitamin b12. GOOD LUCK!
