Guest guest
A local chiropractor did some testing on me and found I am anemic. Pretty severe. But he isn't an expert on it.And just supplementing iron, b12 and folate doesn't seem to help.Looking for a good doctor in Dallas Tx area to treat my anemia.Thank you....anna
Guest guest
, Sorry I can't help you w/the dr in TX...but what came to my mind from my resent research I thought I'd pass you to possibly look further into. You mentioned you've been supplementing iron, b12 & folate but it did not seem to help your anemia....this can mirror some of the MTHFR issues enough that I thought I'd pass it to you as a possible underlying root cause....something to further check on or ask a knowledgable dr... I posted a link & info w/in the last few days that ties some of the b12/folate & anemia connections together w/the MTHFR especially the b12/folate/anemia connection: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Folate_deficiency " Folate deficiency is a lack of folic acid in the diet and the signs are often subtle. Folate deficiency anemia is the medical name given for the condition. " " In adults, anemia (macrocytic, megaloblastic anemia) can be a sign of advanced folate deficiency. " The article goes on to talk about a link w/B12.... Looking at the prior info on MTHFR brings some of this full loop...it's worth checking the recent thread on this group for more ties back to possible roots to this. Additional comment cause I know your thinking " but I'm already supplementing folate & b12 so I'm not defecient... the problem w/MTHFR is we do not break down the folate...so we can supplement folate all we want our body does not have the enzymes to break it down leaving us defiecent in our bodies due to the break down in our methalation cycle...we have the folate, we just can't break it down so our bodies flush it away in it's unusable form leaving us deficient in the form that we are suppose to have...hope this makes sence. More info can be found here: http://ghr.nlm.nih.gov/gene/MTHFR So what happened to us is our doc has us using the broken down form since our bodies do not convert it propertly...so our family has been put on Metagenics Folapro which is the active, preferred form of folate called L-5-methyltetrahydrofolate (L-5-MTHF): http://www.metagenics.com/products/a-z-products-list/FolaPro The other thought I have when reading your post which ties back to the lack of our bodies to break things down properly is have you tried MB12 instead of just b12... Guest guest
Thanks so much. I am recovering from surgery and am remembering something about MTHFR and folapro. It's been a few months since my mb12 shots, but I restarted them today, getting them once a week. I will be going through all my medical records tomorrow and tests I've done over the years. Thank you so much for sharing the research!!!! ....anna From: rchildbalance To: mb12valtrex Sent: Wednesday, September 5, 2012 4:04 PMSubject: Re: offtopic:need Dr. for Anemia in DFW area...... , Sorry I can't help you w/the dr in TX...but what came to my mind from my resent research I thought I'd pass you to possibly look further into.
