Guest guest
I think what the therapist is saying is that his limbic center is not yet communicating with the part of the brain that controls speech. That takes time. My son is 14 and he is only now really starting to make those connection. I say just give him more time to heal. HTH, Donna > > Mt son is 6 yo and we have made big strides, yet he still sounds robotic. We have done speech, social groups, listening program, and now Moyers program with a mic so he hears himself. Somedays, when he is tired, he sounds very choppy. A definitive pause after each word. He was in ABA for a while, than we switched to floor time. A therapist said it is b/c he is not speaking from his limbic part of his brain, he lacks the emotion to make speech fluid. I do not know - he has emotions - it just seems as though he is thinking about what to say more than to worry about how it sounds. What can I do to help him? > Thx! >
