Guest guest
Dawn, It's not unusual NOT to see/hear the heartbeat at 6 weeks (and some even up to seven) as every pregnancy is different. I am assuming that your ultrasound was vaginal? If so, the US tech should have told you that some spotting after the US is completly normal (the cervix is more easily irritated b/c of the pregnancy hormones). After sex, a vaginal exam by the Dr's fingers, or by US, spotting is and can be normal. Brownish-pink blood tells me that it's old blood and it's probably from the US. you said, " the doctor told me back last month that I have a blood collection in my stomach. He said I might bleed. Well today (sunday) I started to bleed red. It's not alot but I'm scared! " If the Dr told you this, then he expected that you might bleed. Where is the collection of blood at? Since I didn't see the US or the report I don't know if he is expecting that you may miscarry, or that the blood is in a normal place and that the bleeding would be normal. " Do you think I'm having a miscarriage again (I had one in June) - I have no pain in my stomach yet " --- some people don't have alot of pain, and others hurt horribly (depending upon their ability to tolerate pain and many other factors too of course). Of course, call him first thing tomorrow, you may be far enough along now to see a heartbeat, but you may not be. The worst thing (and about the only thing) that you can do is to wait. Wait and see what your body is going to do next. If by chance you start bleeding and passing blood clots/gray-white tissue/any grayish material, put it in a baggie to take to his office with you. Did he sound optimistic that you may have a very early preg, or did he sound kinda pessimistic about the blood/possibility of bleeding? If you do indeed miscarry, please ask that he do all of your post WLS labs to be certain everything is within normal limits, that your B12 and folate levels are very good, make certain you are taking your folic acid and B12 (apparently a cause of lots of miscarraiges). You may even ask if they can check your clood for the MTHFR factor that has been linked to several miscarraiges (it goes along with the B12 and folate levels). Of course, if you develop alot of bleeding, severe pain, fever, chills etc, you should go to the ER and not wait til his office opens. Otherwise, unfortunately, it is just a waiting game. Wait and see. It sucks, I know. Wishing you the best, Sheila L & D RN
