Guest guest
Everybody is different. Yes, some people can breastfeed fine, others can't. If you notice your baby is in pain with stomach discomfort then I would put her first and formula feed. I would feel more guilty about nursing if I knew my baby wasn't happy, than I would about formula feeding. Good luck with your choice. Why are you so 'desperate' not to stop breastfeeding? Technically breastmilk is best.. but if it isn't working... it isn't best. OF course there are the militants out there who will try to convince you to do 100 different things to make it work... but in the meantime... the baby suffers. I don't have a high opinion of Lactation Consultants and the militants.... personal experience with trying to bf a preemie...and when I stopped pumping... they actually had the NERVE to tell me that 1) my child wouldn't be as smart 2) would be sickly 3) that I obviously didn't care enough to provide the best I am 9 days away from delivering #2.. and pray that I can breastfeed successfully... but if I can't.. I can't. K in Ft Lauderdale mommy to: Noah - officially a very Terrible 2 !!! Noah would probably be fine?? Almost smacked that woman half way down the block into next week.... um... Noah was 9 weeks early.... I tend to avoid " playgroups " with the women who are constantly comparing thier GENIUS children to the 'average' ones.. You should see the looks and questions I get because Noah.. who just turned 2 is still drinking from a bottle. The kid has oral issues... doesn't eat solid foods...only pureed.. and will ONLY willingly put a bottle nipple in his mouth. Hmm.... force a cup or go with the whole milk nutrition?? He is in OT and ST.... but I can't get over the insensitivity of some other mothers... sheesh.. K in Ft Lauderdale mommy to: Noah - officially a very Terrible 2 !!! Does anyone know if our bodies make breastmilk differently than before surgery? My newborn cries with stomach problems - gas, cramps and just pure pain - after every breastmilk meal. I am desperate to not stop breastfeeding. We have tried her on Similac Advanced Formula and she does fine. Could my body be not producing milk as well since I'm not absorbing as many calories, etc?? I'm really grasping at straws. I have already elimated all of the gassy foods - this is my second child - I breastfed for 9 months with my firstborn - before my WLS. Any ideas or suggestions? I've received a RX for Reglan but doesn't seem to help either.
