ladies,

Hi this is in Nevada and I need some help. I am in the State

of Washington visiting my parents and am just now 6 weeks pregnant.

We got here Friday morning and friday nite around 7 I went to the

restroom and noticed that there was some blood when I wiped. ( sorry

about the graphics). I already miscarried in May and instantly

thought that was what was happening again. Well we immediately went

to the ER and after blood test that showed the babies hormones were

at 25607, vaginal ultrasound, regular ultrasound, urine tests, and

vaginal swabs, I was told that I have a threatened miscarriage, but

that they don't know what will happen or if I will actually miscarry.

Well, now it is Sunday I have not had any spotting since yesterday

afternoon and very mild then. I am curious if anyone has had

anything similar? When does implantation spotting take place? Can

your cervic decided to shed some excess blood. I am really just at a

loss and cannot contact my OB in Nevada until tommorrow. Any advice,

suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in

advance....

moderator note to :

Being a L & D RN, we see this ALOT. The sad thing about it is, there is nothing

that we (or you or your OB) can do if indeed it is going to be a miscarriage.

That is the saddest part about being in obstetrics. If it is going to happen, it

will. I know these aren't encouraging words, but with you having had a previous

M/C, I'm certain you know this already. Many, many, many pregnant women bleed

some at the beginning, during and sometimes they bleed the entire pregnancy, and

deliver a healthy baby.

The only things you can do are rest, rest, rest, eat well, drink plenty of

fluids to stay hydrated and put absolutely nothing into your vagina (no tampons,

douching or sexual intercourse).

The absolute WORST part about this is the only thing you can do is *wait* which

seems like an eternity.

Try to rest and think on the positive side. All things happen for a reason. The

fact that you have not had any bleeding since yesterday is a very good thing.

Bright red blood is fresh/new bleeding whereas brownish blood is older blood.

When you get back home or if you are still in WA in 2 days, you need to have

another quantitative HCG test done to see if your numbers are going up instead

of going down. This would be an excellent indicator that things are going for

the best at this time.

Best wishes and rest rest rest! This means, lying on your back or side with your

feet propped up on pillows, going to the restroom ONLY when you have to pee.

Nothing else. Strict bedrest. Although whatever will be, will be, at least you

will have done anything possible to worsen the situation.

:)

*Hugs*
