Guest guest
Hi Jay: I cannot believe that your insurance DENIED payment on your PET scan. That is outrageous. We all have a serious disease that could kill us and these scans are necessary to determine how to treat this. Many years ago, (i.e. pre-Cancer), I was denied payment by my insurer for what I thought was medically necessary. I appealed it and appealed it and finally it was paid. In fact, I was denied a surgery once and appealed it with the help of my physician, and the insurance company finally allowed it. It is a pain in the tush but worth doing. I would not give up on this (of course, I am a litigator, right). I am having my first CT contrast scan and PET scan tomorrow since I began chemo. They did one the week or so before I started chemo so they are looking to see if there is any new growth. I don't expect any since they have been poisoning me with FOLFOX plus Avastin and I don't think anything can survive that. My best to you, in California > >>>my port sticks out because I am thin. Guest guest
You know Jay, I have just given up.............so I send them all (between 15 and 20) $10.00 a month. I tell them if and when they call, I can always stop sending if they are not happy with a good faith payment. Jeez. Love you kid, Karima Re: ports-jay Hi Jay: I cannot believe that your insurance DENIED payment on your PET scan. That is outrageous. Guest guest
Karima, I need a little help here. I am paying on all my bills too. And they are threatening to turn me over to collection agency if I don't pay more. One company that was out of insurance network wants me to get the 1700.00 bill paid within six months or it goes to the collection agency. What remark do you have for that??? I have asked the patient advocate with help on this. They are trying to appeal my insurance company to pay more since I did not have a choice about being out of network. Guest guest
i wouldn't worry about my credit. I would worry about living. If you hae a mortgage pay it. Your credit cards pay it. DOn't pay the hospital bills tell them you are broke etc. The doctors can write it off if they believe you are destitute. Remember the collection agency buys the debts at like 5 cents on the dollar and everything they collect goes to them. I owe many many thousands for my treatment and if the insurance doesn't pay it neither do I. There are more important things in life than worrying about it and they can't really touch your assets and won't even try. Its an intimidation factor on their part. Guest guest
Thanks Nonnie, What gets me peeved is that I am honestly making an attempt to pay the bills. Been giving them 50.00 a month. And they are not happy with that. Just am wondering if they can really turn me over for making the paymnents. Ingrid > > > >>>my port sticks out because I am thin. Guest guest
what do you mean turn you over???? Do you need a new mortgage or a new car..... if you do you may have a problem. But otherwise you should tell the bill collector agencies.. Oh I'm sorry she's in a nursing home... they will say who is handling her affairs... and you can say nobody... she no longer lives at this number. They will stop calling. I'd save the 50 bucks a month too. I'm sure you can use it better to handle your own life. Guest guest
Anytime pal, that's what we are here for. About 49 days or so and I am on my way. Guest guest
Thank you for the message, Nonnie. I will think about offering one payment in full, sort of in a lump sum. Some of them might go for that. ~Deb from KS nonnie wrote: I still would not worry. You could offer them 25.00 for payment in full or tell them you aren't paying you would be surprised how often the 25.00 bucks will make it payment in full. There are so many ways and writing off medical bills.... they should not really affect your credit as long as your mortgage and car payments are up to date. Nonnie Re: ports-jay Nonnie, One big bill I had started balking since I was making payments. They sent me a form to fill out telling them our income and expenses. When I gave them a list of all owed in medical bills with the others they decided to cut the bill and half and accept my payments. I made it very clear that I was not going to go hungry or without utilites for my family to meet their demands. Here in Indiana the laws are a little different. I do not want to ruin my husbands credit rating if at all possible. If I was single I would not care. But this would involve our family. So am trying to reason with them.
