Guest guest
Hehehehehehe. We are very proud of him. Of course we were always proud of him even when he was missing that darn ball. He started with soccer and this year he is playing baseball for the first time. Greggory is really not what I would call athletic. Not by any means. But he loves to play and he loves to socialize! I think it is great for him to get out there and try. We didn't tell the coach that he is autistic. Not this time anyway. But I know that the coach's wife knows from soccer(they were on the same team) and she could have told him. Although I really dont see the coach treating Greggory differently at all. Anyway, he has been doing ok. He has had a hard time hitting the ball and then of course focusing seems to be an issue as he is right field alot of the time. Not much action out there. He tipped the ball a couple of weeks ago and it popped up and hit him in the eye. Ouch! but he kept playing. This is good. Of course on Tuesday's game he was running away from the ball and jumping away from the pitches. Jeff was not happy. I could even say mad I think. So during the game he told Greggory if he didnt start swinging(didnt matter if he hit the ball) and stop playing in the dirt then he wouldnt let Greggory play anymore. He did swing the next time up to bat but it was a sad little swing. So we come home and Jeff decides to teach Greggory to swing at a ball and not be afraid of the ball. Of course Jeff's method to to hit Greggory with the ball(a rubber one) a few time to show Greggory he will not die. Then off to hitting from a tee and then pitches. He seems to be getting it. But only a game will tell for sure. Yesterday was the next game. Alec and Yessenia were the children from hell and so I call the coach and ask him to take Greggory for me to the out of town game. Jeff meets Greggory there during the first inning. I get the most excited phone call from Jeff. Greggory is not only swinging he has hit everytime he was up to bat! The crowd is cheering Greggory on and Greggory is beeming Jeff tells me. He never did make it home to score a run but he gave it his all and did make it to 3rd base. He even went after a few balls in the outfield. Greggory is rewarded with pizza and called all grandparents to share the story. I don't mind if other people do, it's just that we never started. He's just more of a than a Matt. ellen Re: Oh yeah!(long) Noone calls him Gregg. He prefers Greggory. I prefer Greggory too. We never call him Greg. Jeff asked Greggory if he wouyld like to be called Greg and he said no. But he did say that it would be ok if his friends called him Greg. Hmmmmm..... Guest guest
LOL. I think of Greggory as a Greggory and not a Gregg. Of course Greggory has an uncle and grandfather who are both called Greg. Maybe that has something to do with us calling him Greggory. Jacquie H Oh yeah!(long)
Guest guest
LOL Jacquie H Re: Oh yeah!(long) I never call Josh. Most everyone else does, but not me. Several years ago, wanted me to call him Josh. I told him I had gone through labor with him and that I would call him what I pleased. He laughed. Guest guest
Weird. Chris's sister won't answer if anyone calls her . Never has. Only close family and friends may call her Jen. Otherwise she is . My daughter Cherokee. This is just so weird. When she was born she had this scrawny bowed chicken legs and bright red hair that stood up like a rooster comb. She ended up with the nickname Rooster. Well, I asked her the other day if she was going to be offened in life when people shortened her name down to Cherry. She said she would have to think about it. The next day she said she wanted to be Cherry instead of Rooster. Ok. I asked her if going from an animal (rooster) to a fruit (cherry) was a promotion or demotion. She told me she was being upgraded. Go figure. Strange child.
