Guest guest
Tell him if he won't go you'll call his doctor yourself. It is basically that we as care givers get so much bad news about you that we get lax about our own care.Be gentle but insistent that he get that test or at the very least a very thorough checkup and discussion with his doctor about his background at which point the doctor can take over the nagging. Where you are battling cancer yourself it is probably better to let someone else be the " bad guy " with this. Guest guest
Tiger, just keep asking your husband to get his colonoscopy. He's a grown man, but he needs to be reminded. Before we had our children, Sam developed hemorrhoids and OTC Preparation H gave some relief, but he had to see the doctor in case he needed surgery. The doctor put his finger on my husband's rectum to check him, but only prescribed special suppositories that fixed his problem. That was the last time my husband went to the doctor. He was embarrassed by the exam. Thirty some years later, when Sam suddenly began having rectal bleeding he finally went to the doctor who ordered the colonoscopy. The tumor was blocking the colon by 50 per cent. Getting a colonoscopy and removing a little polyp is not difficult. I have even read that women don't want to do this because the doctor is usually a man. But after they have the colonoscopy and see how simple the procedure is, they are not shy any more about having it done. Embarrassment is not an excuse for having an exam that will save your life. ~Deb from KS Grandmommyandme@... wrote: In a message dated 10/11/2005 6:09:32 AM Eastern Standard Time, tiger-malley@... writes: hi, colon cancer runs in my husband family, and he still will not go in to get a colonoscopy test done even after i got stage 4 colonrectal cancer. , tiger __________________________________________________
