Well finally made it to Austin for Celtic Festival meeting. I now have a

purpose again. LOL... Also won't have to commute back and forth that weekend

as one of the gals offered me a space in her hotel room.. Whew! So much

more fun if one can stay in the host hotel... On the way home almost had an

up close and personal meeting with my maker. The last not quite 30 miles of

the the trip is on a road that is slowly making a transition from a 2 lane

country road to a split 4 lane highway. About 8 miles outside of Killeen I

am driving along and all of a sudden there is a huge pick up truck turning

left right in front of me.. If I had been driving 65 instead of 60 I surely

would have hit him, when he turned in front of me there had to be no more

that 3 feet of space separating us from oblivion... (well me anyway)... I

braked and laid on my horn and said all sorts of naughty words to that

person. Also so thankful that the person who had been riding my bumper for

the 15 previous miles was not still doing so or he would have surely got me

from behind when I braked so suddenly... I am so thankful that I got home

safely, whew!... They used to call that stretch of road the Hiway of

Death, as so many people (usually soldiers traveling from Fort Hood, to a

night out on the town in Austin -- would kill themselves on that highway),

now they call it the Phantom Warrior Highway... Not sure if that means there

are ghosts roaming or what.. LOL... I will be so glad when they get the

construction done on that road...

Well enough of that...... Have a great day everyone... Jolene
