Guest guest
Deb, I'm sorry I don't know your story but if your hubby had colon surgery and the diarrhea has become a problem since then I know what he is going through. I, too, have the same sporadic episodes with diarrhea that can last for hours on end (PS the zinc oxide wipes someone wrote of sound wonderful to my behind LOL) is horrible. I have tried all the OTC meds plus prescription ones such as Lomotil with nothing helping me so far, well no help when I really need it to work. I wished I could tell you something that really helped but for me, I have been dealing with this " side effect " of surgery since Dec 03 and haven't found anything yet. Best Wishes and if you find something that works for your husband please pass it along. Sincerely, Averi
Guest guest
Deb: I am so sorry Joe is going through this. I would definitely contact the oncologist asap. This needs to be investigated. I don't know how he has the strength to continue to work through all of this. Is he finished with his chemo? In my opinion, those of us with CC have to rest so that we can have the energy to do the things that are important. For example, if you know he has to work, he needs to rest as much as he can and not go to work on someone's roof after working all day. He is sick. It is like having only so many marbles in a jar. You have to select how you want to spend those marbles because when they are gone there is nothing left. Please call the oncologist tomorrow. If you can't get any satisfaction from them, go to an emergency room. I also had scans yesterday -- a CT contrast scan and a PET scan -- and I already was given the results over the phone today from my oncologist. Your oncologist should have the results by now and can do the same. Also ask for copies of the written reports from the scans. Guest guest
OH Deb, Of course I would be worried. I would call the ONC. But of course in my case my ONC is the one who is in charge of me. He is the one who orders any of my tests. I would call one of the doctors for sure. He cannot go like this. It will weaken him. Has he ben taking any different medication? Praying for Joe and always Praying for YOU!! Guest guest
Has he tried going back to the BRAT diet and seeing if that controls it? I just checked out website to see if our diarrhea tip sheet was on it...darn...it's not. I can mail or email it to you (and I'll get it added to our website). Coconut milk is an option to try.
