Guest guest
So glad to hear that it went well. It can be such a relief to just get started on the treatment because you feel that you are really doing something to fight this devil. Maybe now that your husband has started he will relax a little bit. I was thinking last night that a month ago I was stressing ), totally bewildered, furiously angry, etc out when everyone was thinking I'm so calm about this. Apparently I hide it well because I've acquired an ulcer. Now it just seems like another day - we get up, eat, go to town for his treatment, day after day with little or no variation. It is surprising how fast the unspeakable, unthinkable, becomes routine for us. Right now we are just looking forward to the end of this cycle, two more weeks to go. We have quit talking about the near future and what it holds. We know he will have a colostomy and that it will be sometime around Thanksgiving but we are just taking one day at a time right now. Bill is wavering about 'burr-cutting' his hair of which he is so proud. Sixty-five, full head of dark brown hair and not a grey one in it. But it is starting to come out due to the Xeloda. He says it is taking too much energy and time now to keep it combed and looking nice. I told him if he goes bald I would shave my head too and he started laughing. Then he would just have a plump bald wife and what would that do for him:-) TTYL Jan Sent: Monday, October 10, 2005 9:43 PM Subject: Re: FlyToDeb????? That's what we were told. LOL Sam was in a very good mood and hope this lasts as long as it possibly can. He is gargling four times a day with baking soda mixed in water to prevent mouth sores. I had not heard of that, so it sounds good to me. > > OMG, I am tired. This has been such a stressful day. I need to relax. My getting stressed out is not going to help him. Guest guest
Hi, Jan. Thanks for the message. Hope Bill is tolerating his chemo well. Sorry to hear you have developed an ulcer. Please take care of yourself. I have read your messages on this group and I know you are a determined lady. I know you can help Bill in this situation. It isn't pleasant, and yes it can be monotonous but here and there little things will boost your spirits. A phone call from a relative or a friend, a card or letter. A simple joke will make me laugh and feel better. Just think, by January your Bill will have had the surgery, be recovered and totally used to his new situation. And his hair will grow back! It will be a Happy New Year. I am thinking positive thoughts. Prayers for everyone~ ~Deb from KS Jan wrote: So glad to hear that it went well.
