Guest guest
I'm hopeless at thinking up names , so by the time DS3 was due this year, all I could come up with were DS1 and 2's names, in fact I had to explain to DS1 why we couldn't call two of our children the same name because of the confusion, etc. So thinking about your baby, all I can come up with is my DS2's name, but don't think would be a good idea - Nicky or Nick Dick! A friend of mine wanted to call her eldest boy Jake but they decided against that because their surname was Wake and settled for Jack instead! When I was pregnant with DS1 the Atlanta Olympics were on so of course we tried out all the unusual names of the competitors - Roxbert, Ezekial, Linford. We ended up with though in due course. The other way of thinking up baby names is by watching the TV credits - oh, what a sad way to spend your pregnancy, but I've done it all three times ;o)) Hannah Silly names We were looking through a baby name book today as we are totally clueless when it comes to boys names (we have names sorted out for a girl) We used up 3 good names on . Some of the best ones (and remember our surname is Dick) are: Everard Ivor Fitz There were others but without going back to the book I can't remember them! http://www.foxstitch.co.uk/

Guest guest
Also.... my DD2 is Emilie (spelt French way - don't ask, fit of picque on my behalf!). My dear MIL (not!), when DH called from hospital to say DD2 had been born, and her name (together with spelling) instead of congratulating us asked why we had chosen such (and I quote) 'ridiculous spelling and a name that begins with the same initial as her surname'!! I ask you. When we were expecing DD1 and were thinking of names MIL's suggestions were Janet or Barbara if it was a girl! Very nice names of course, but more in vogue when she was expecting +40 years ago! Finally... we have friends and the wife is a real Shakespeare nut - their 2 daughters are : Ophelia Isabella t and Cressida Viola Cecily - not silly names at all, just following a theme. Beverly Up in the middle of the night as she can't sleep worrying over all the things she needs to do before Thurs, yet decided to 'pop in' here instead! Guest guest
I am always reminded (and tell this in my classes when we do " naming your baby " ) of the brilliant Matt cartoon at the time of the late a Yates' last birth: it depicted a midwife running out of a delivery room calling: " Doctor! Doctor! Quick! The stupid names are coming every five minutes! " Ruthie (off to catch a plane home...and *still* hasn't got Laurie Car or Ollie Dick, please indulge a thicko and explain?) > Also.... my DD2 is Emilie (spelt French way - don't ask, fit of > picque on my behalf!). Kitty was almost an Ophelia until I said it out loud with our surname! My mother at Christmas lunch said she'd always liked the name Henrietta - and then couldn't understand what the gales of laughter were about. It really is a handicap - I don't feel we can choose any name beginning with A! ANd so many names don't work. DH admitted last night that he tool a lot of stick for his surname at school - but said it stopped them picking on him for anything else (his mother cut his hair and he wore NHS glasses!) so he reckoned it was an easy way out! http://www.foxstitch.co.uk/

Guest guest
<<So " Laurie Car " >> I used to know a Ella Stich... and when I first came to England I worked with a Rose Bush.. I once commented to her did you not ever consider not taking you dh's name when you married ? she said didn't really make much difference as my maiden name was Gardner!!!! (to her parents defence I will say that her real name was Rosemary but no one called her anything but Rose) Lonnie Phoebe & Eloisa's mama & expecting a Christmas delivery... Guest guest
<<<always liked the name Henrietta - and then couldn't understand what the gales of laughter were about.>> Well my maiden name was kok (yes pronounced how you think ;o) ) and my parents actually drew sticks over my name. Had my mother won my name would have been Fanny Kok... Not so sure I would have stayed in England with that combination... Guest guest
At my primary school we had a Clare and a Mark (siblings). Also one of the girls in my year at school had a virtually honeymoon baby and called it Jasmine May (after the essential oil used when she was conceived and the month she was born). A friend and I spent a hilarious evening getting drunk and inventing names for her next children, amongst them Armpit October and .... my favourite .... KY July!!! My favourite nice girly names are my friend Sharon's Lily May, and her twins Poppy and Molly. Guest guest
I know someone who named their child Robin.. one drunken night a friend and I did have a good laugh when she could not recall what he was called but could remember it was a Winnie the pooh name and continued to call him eeyore for the rest of the evening.. (never did tell my friend though who would have been hurt but I still think it was a BAAAADDD name to saddle your child with..) Lonnie Phoebe & Eloisa's mama & expecting a Christmas delivery... I also love iel but Dh said what was the point in calling him iel when it would be shorterned. I also like Benedict, . Isaac would have been Lily Marie if he was a girl.
