Guest guest
And yet it's possible to buy packs of 240 anti stomach ulcer tablets in the US very cheaply, whereas we in Britain can buy only six or seven at a time (and at a price!!) I also noticed huge tubs of 500 painkillers on sale in America, which are not available here. Weird, isn't it? I must remember to by a couple of 500 packs of Tylenol when we are next there. Apparently part of the reasoning is that people choose to commit suicide using paracetamol - I have to say that if I wanted to end it I think I'd choose an easier less painful way than paracetamol. Having found a friend who had taken 22 (i.e. 6 more than you can buy in a supermarket 10 less than in a chemist) who was in agony and still suffers from live problems today it wouldn't be my drug of choice. In fact although paracetamol is safe in its recommended dose even taking a double dose can cause liver pain. Guest guest
That's right. My mother's friend took paracteamol, Lemsip and Nightnurse for a cold, not realising they all contained paracetamol and ended up with a liver transplant. However, the govt's decision to limit the pack size to 16 in the UK has paid off, as deaths from paracetamol poisoning have dropped by 20%, I believe. I think 20 is considered a fatal number of tablets to take. Lesley ------------------- From: " > > > > Thanks for that reminder Lesley! Guest guest
last time we went to France our friend who lives over there asked us to bring over 500 Paracetamol tablets for her. and the local pharmacist would not sell it to me. (no more than 200 ). but my local Sainsbury's did not have any problems ;o).. I know that you could argue that it could be for non medic uses but as it was paracetamol it would not have been difficult to get a hold of the next lot.. and also would 200 tablets not have been enough??? (sorry should not ask a question like that I just meant that 200 would be a pretty strong dose in one to) BTW I do understand why they said no but kind of felt like it was a round about way of doing it.. Lonnie Phoebe & Eloisa's mama & expecting a Christmas delivery... My therapist told me the way to achieve true inner peace is to finish what you start. So far today, I have finished 2 bags of chips and a Chocolate cake. I feel better already.
