We all have days > like that. Anneliese: Thank you for this, and for your kind words re Yeshaya. I have several nephews and nieces living in Jerusalem, besides my daughters, and a couple of them have been phoning to make sure Y knows he has an open invitation for meals, when he comes to Yeshivah. I think he'd have to be pretty desperate to actually accept, as he barely knows them, but it was comforting to know, all the same. Yeshaya has weird eating habits at the best of times, but recently has developed a wierd habit of not eating at ALL unless nagged, and even then, refusing to eat anything remotely like healthy food. I thought it was to nark me, so I stopped nagging. But today he ate nothing at all until we went out for supper, by which time he was SOOOO ratty and weak and had such a stomach ache that he behaved really badly and DH lost his cool with him. We had stopped off at Tavya and Dov's flat, to say goodbye, and to drop off my Israeli mobile phone (pay as you go) which Tavya uses when we are not in Israel, and somehow Yeshaya got left behind downstairs, and wasn't sure which flat was theirs, and had a tantrum about being left. Real baby stuff! DH yelled at him, and at me for trying to keep the peace, and Y got in an even bigger strop and said he would stay at Tavya's and not come out with us for supper. It all worked out OK, Tavya fed him his favourite schnitzels (he ate two in the space of about ten seconds, he must have been starving!) followed by plenty of crisps and snacks and sweets etc. By the time we came back from our (lovely and peaceful!) supper at a nearby steak restaurant, he had mellowed, even though he was a bit stroppy with his Dad, he soon got back to normal. he's gone to bed now; first time the whole holiday he's gone to bed before 2 a.m.! We have an early start tomorrow, so I will sign off soon too (we're two hours ahead anyway, so it's almost midnight.) Y is very lucky to have Tavya and Dov here; Dov is a veteran of the yeshivah world, and will be a good source of advice and help, and Tavya will do the mothering bit )(at least till next summer when T & D come back to UK to live) And when he wants a change, it's off on the Egged bus to Bnei Brak (near Tel Aviv) to stay with Avigayil and her lot for a Sabbath.
